For those of you that use Reef Crystal IO salt, I thought this may be of interest to you. I respect Randy advise when ever I see his posts on R2R. Someone on R2R asked if anyone knew the difference between IO vs RCIO. Randy replied....

I used to use all these fancy salts and didn't see any difference so a few months ago I switched back to i.o. and no complaints

Been using normal IO for years. Used RC a few times with no ill effect but maybe not long enough for the problem to appear.

I use RC coral pro, it works for me. I’ve used IO for emergencies a couple times, as the box stores always have it. Never more than 20 gallons at a time, so I doubt it would be possible to notice anything.

The only reason why I stopped using IO is because of the price increase. But aside from that, I was a happy IO customer.

I am currently using red sea blue.
I have used a bunch of different salt.
I agree IO is readily available and it’s also not expensive. So in a pinch I would use it with no problem.
I was able to get $20 buckets at amazon so I setup my tank with that salt 1st

There's also sea level that sells IO everyday of the year for $35, there probably not making money on salt at that point and hoping that brings you in for other goodies.

@diana a Yes it is! I've only been there once or twice in the past but now that I saw that salt deal I'll probably start checking it out more often

I'm in the RC club. Sea Level sells those at $45 for the 200g box. Before things went crazy they were getting ready to set up a few more coral systems which Warren, the owner, said would be for more high end stuff. I have my fingers crossed they might be up and running when they open for viewing again soon. (Fingers crossed for that soon too)

I passed by there last week, and Warren has more LPS/SPS frags in his two new 180s than he's ever had. (He's probably not carrying the 25 cent @ feeder shrimp any more, because the new tanks take up the space they once occupied - so it goes. I'll miss those feeders, as will my Marine Betta.)
