It began with a new sump..

Hi all. Curt and I are building a new sump for my 140 gallon tank. Lots going to be happening in the next few weeks months. The pics below are of the 70 gallon sump we are putting together. Thanks to Nate for specs - he helped Curt figure out specs. I'll post pics of the other stuff later (mag 24. Hole drill kit and overflow. Etc)

So brakes are on for a bit. Had solar panels put on roof. Inspector came to check. Found my nice finished basement and informed me I didn't get permits to do it. Almost got a 6 k fine! Put in for permits then the pain will begin!

So Howell township building inspectors will be going over my basement today. Hopefully there won't be any big issues and I can get started on my sump and drilling my tank. Let you know later. :)

So here is the report. Gotta pigtail all my grounds in my outlets. In have them daisy chained but used plastic boxes. So gotta fix that. Some minor Sheetrock. Replace a defective smoke detector. Vent a closet that has the hot water heater. Not too bad. Be done quick Then i drill my tank set up the sump. And the rest of my tank renovation. Hawk I didn't order my LEDs yet. Curt did tho:). NICE.

wow that sxxxx hope that doesnt happen to me but i had a half finished basement from start, and anything i did it was to code good luck really 6k was the fine ,so much for it being your house its all about the money 18fisher

So curt and I were measuring my tank. 6 foot to closet where sump is. I emailed glass holes guys to find out what min drop is needed Trying to put the sump on a stand so its off the floor and a bit more accessible. So may hydrologists out there that can tell me the min drop needed. Don't think it matters but want a more definitive answer. Anyone? Anyone? Buhler? :). I just cracked myself up

Ok. An update. Basement punch list is done. Thank god for my father-in-law sal. Friday is final inspection from town guys. Today we rerouted a waste removal line. I have a danner 2100 external mounted to a pipe system. Below my ro storage tank. Used to run outside to a hose fitting that I would connect a garden hose to and run to sewer. Today we put a t in the upstairs kitchen 2 inch waste water line and ran the water change line to it. Put a trap on it with a clean out. Also used 1 inch clear hose. I'll take pics tomorrow Next is swap my 30 gallon ro tank out and put in a 55 gallon drum. (Thanks curt). Then the sump gets installed. Tank gets drilled. Then I'm squirreling away money for a sro 3000 internal skimmer. And when my money comes for my solar referral ill get my new lights!

And about the height change needed for sump and tank...here is the email I got from the Glassholes guys.....

Thanks for visiting. As long as there is a vertical difference, the overflow will function. If there are horizontal runs, the elbows at the ends of these should be vented, or tee's with vertical pipe installed, to break any siphons.

So I have a mag 24 as my return. There is a t off the return with 2 lines with ball valves that will each run a seperate reactor. I don't think I'll have a problem with pressure. There is also an auto top off in the return side. I used bricks to act as a stand for 1and 1/2 inch plank. Used a ten footer and cut it in half. Haven't put return lines in yet. Everything is being dry fitted first. There is a six inch drop from where my tank will be drilled to the sump lip. I'm going to upload 2 pictures to show over all location
