I run about 180 gal total water volume. I split my brs gfo and carbon reactor into 2 separate units. I called the brs tech support guys and they said if I had a newer reactor it was the same as the biopellet reactor that they sell. I looked at the pics of both and figured it was so. That's why I called them. So back to your question. Yes. I'm running 25 mg. good for about 50 gallons. It filled the reactor half way. I did not mod the reactor cause I wasn't worried about pressure. I have the all valve less than 50 % open. I'm running a mag 24. I will run the other unit later after this breaks in for a while I think that's the recommendation. All told it will be good for about a 100 gal of water. I'll experiment and see
So I pulled the trigger on Apollo LEDs. They have a 6 month no interest pay period using PayPal. So I got 3 lights and their controller. Sweeeet! Can't wait to get them. Found a sleek design using L aluminum stock and tube for main supports.
You will definitely be happy with the Apollo LEDs. I have the 1st Gen. 5000 UV model and I love them!
If you plan to build a canopy for them, here's how I made mine:
That last one is before it was finished... but you can see how the fixture fits nice and snug in the "tray" created by the aluminum angles. As a bonus, I can slide both fixtures on the tray to whatever position I want them in... or even slide them both to one side to get better access to my tank from the top without having to take all the fixtures out.
Anyway, thought I'd share in case it gave you some ideas you could use to mount yours.
On a side note, I would highly recommend having these in a canopy as opposed to just hanging or mounting them on a rail. These fixtures have such a wide coverage area that you will get blinding light protruding through the open space between the fixture and your tank. Without a canopy to block the light, you will light up your whole room and it will be hard to look at the tank without getting blinded. These are NOT a "spot-light" look like AI Sols or some other brand LED's.
Tell me about it. They got them to me in 2days. The lights beat the controller. FedEx came early and it didn't get out with them. So it arrives tomm. My father in law is a retired welder and he loves my tank. So he fabricated the stand after in showed him pics. By the way the fish is doing well. My tangs tried to push him around but he didn't let it happen. They are getting along well. So lights!!!!!! Can't wait to light em up!
By the way the rails are aluminum L stock. Inch and a half and an 1/8 gage We used the stock bolt on the top of the light by oversizing the hole that were drilled. Allowed the mount to sit flush and give enough thread exposure to ensure secure tightening
FYI, if you want to test your leds before you get the controller... you can just plug the power cords in then use a 9v battery as your dimmer signal. You may need to strip one end of an old ethernet cable to get to the wires, but a 9v will let you see what your lights will look like at around 90% intensity.
Just got done setting up lights. My old lights had one of the ac/dc converters go. So I had to get home at 10 and get new lights set up for tomm morning. Really cool. I do want to find a replacement transformer thingy for my large marineland reef ready LEDs. I have 2 of the 48 inch jobbers. Now one won't work and I wanted to use them both on my frag tank. Oh well. I'll make one
