Jgraz's Finally a Proper Tank 90 Upgrade

What is your Mg? Keep your dose under 100ppm per day. Also, I have some of the Purple Nana, Red Planet and Green Slimer when you're ready.

Thanks Jim.

I tested 2 times last night. I got 1200 & 1260. I figure I'll raise over the next couple of days. I'll tell you the problem is really hard to figure out. As I've stated before its just affecting acros, not all of them though. Some, like my Cali torts look just a well as they always have. And the montis are still growing and colored nicely.

Oh yeah, and make me lots of baby plates

So its been a while since I did an update. I lost about 90% of my acros. The only ones that are left is a frag of purple nana and strawberry shortcake that began receding but seem to be recovering and my pearberry colony that is still in in limbo. It still shows recession but because of its size it seems to be out growing the STN. If that makes sense. Also the few acros i had in my frag tank are doing well and at no time did any of those show any signs of problems, which is weird since the system is connected. All in all I think Im starting to pull out of the problem area and getting back to the status quo.
My montis however have been doing spectacular. The growth on them has taken off in recent weeks and colors have been dead on. That said I have decided to pretty much go "Full Monti"(no, not that one) with this tank, at least as far as SPS goes. They have always been my favorites anyway. Once the few acros that are left seem out of trouble they are going int my son's nano. Heres a few quick I-Phone pics of a few and a quick FTS as well.

Montis look great John!
suggestion- if you have not thrown away the plate skeleton yet, don't. They have been known to bud babies when they look dead.

That skeleton is staying right where it is. If you didnt notice right under the pic is this little line I added

Oh yeah, and make me lots of baby plates

I havent even touched it nor will I be.

As I sit here at work not knowing when I will be getting paid again I figured I would update a few things. The few acros I have left seem to have halted their STN and are in full growth mode now. Still have no idea what ever happened and to be honest I do wish I had lost them all if for no other reason then whatever happened could run its course. With a few remaining Im fearful that what ecer killed them off is still lurking in the system. Either way I am done with acros for the forseable future. I have turned my efforts towards a mainly Monti tank. I have also started getting into Z', P's, and Mushrooms. And my collection has been steady growing for the last couple of months. I'll get some pics up of the collection soon.

I have been running Biopellets for about 10 straight months now and the other night I happened to look at the reactor and noticed that the pellets were no churning. I gave it a shake and and there was no change. So I checked the output line a noticed that there was a good steady flow of water. So not knowing what was going on I took down the reactor and gave it a quick cleaning. I am using the Reef Octopus BR 110. after taking it apart I noticed that the tube that send water down into the reactor was caked with gunk. This tube has a check valve that got so gunked up it would not move. This is the reason I hate check valves. Cleaned it and all is well. So if your using a R.O. reactor keep an eye on it.

The last few night I have been playing with my camera trying to figure out the best way to get some nice pics. I don't own a DLSR and I can't justify getting one right now. I usually just use my Iphone, but I don't know how to white balance it so I broke out my other camera. These were taken with a Nikon Cool Pix L310.
These are just zoomed in as close as I can get. I can zoom closer but then I wont focus in.

These were zoomed in as close as I could get the the pic was taken through a magnifying glass. I like these the best. I just gotta find a magnifying glass that has a higher lvl of magnification.

Looking good J, those montis are really doing well. Glad the acros are coming back even thiugh its bittersweet. Those euphillia look amazing, they must be one and a half times the size of a basketball lol

Thanks.

That hammer fully inflated is a little bigger then a BB. The frogspawn is only slightly smaller. I really gotta figure out how to cut them back. Im afraid to though. They are both perfectly shaped but something has to be done.

Shape em like a bonsai tree lol. For actual fragging thiugh I would try to get them out and dremel a stalk off, avoid doing it head by head

John, here’s a thought: It is recommended that low nutrient systems (biopellet tanks), run their alk on the low side. Could it be that the STN’ing you were seeing was from alk burn, and now it is improving because the alk remains the same (relatively high), but the biopellets were off-line. Just a thought.

I run by alk around 7 and everything is growing like crazy.

And good luck with those Bozos in Washington getting you back on the payroll. I wonder if their paychecks are held up as well? That would resolve this matter quickly.

My alk has been in the 6.5-7 range since I started the tank. I check the reactor very often and this was the only time the pellets were not activly churning. Though to be honest there was infact some movement in the pellets, as there was a bit of movement here and there. I did consider Alk burn but it seems that is from tips down. The STN I experienced was from Base up and ONLY hit the Acros. All other SPS in my system was left unscathed. thats includes Monti's(many different kinds), Birdsnest's and a Stylo. I can trace the acro decline directly back to 2 things. One was a very heavy dipping session that i conducted during a old AEFW infest. This session not only have alonger then average dip but extra turkey basting. The second thing and what I truly believe was the issue is the Acro coral buy I was involved in several months ago. Im relitivly certain that some type of bacteria came in with the wild colonies that just decimated my colonies.

As for the Bozo's in DC they can all go screw. From what I understand many are in fact recieving their pay. Besides Im sure they have their hands in tons of shady side projects as well. All of them will eat well during the shutdown.
