Jimroth's Big Ol' Tank

I forgot one pic. This is the Crayola Plana frag I won in the raffle at the January meeting. Donated by Aquatic Obsessions, thanks guys!

Mounted a bunch of montipora spongodes frags after trimming the coral with my cutters (It was getting close to the pearlberry). Also made a big syringe full of kalk paste and went around the tank killing coral. Man. I never thought I would have to kill pokerstar and sunset monti, but once they get going, they're as big a pest as star polyps. The sunset was encroaching on my upscales microclados (which is looking very super, aqua with blue tips) and the pokerstar was atttacking the pearlberry. Plus I practiced murdering some of the little pocci colonies which are everywhere in the tank now. I even have a pocillopora-bearing snail.
I am runnning a test fish through quarantine in preparation for my majestic angel. It's a Falco Hawk from Absolutely fish, very cute and seems indestuctable (air pump quit on the q-tank -- good thing there wasn't an Angelfis$h in there!).

I'll keep that in mind when I finally place them in a display!

But come on! Mobile coral?!?! Now that COOL!

Was just at AF drooling over fish last week. They had a little majestic, barely 2" with juvi stripes runing thru emergant adult colors. If I had a QT, he'd have been mine! Go get him!

I might have to get him. I wonder if the other (bigger) fish would be too hard on the little guy.

Is it OK to have two fish in the Q-tank, you think? I would be pulling the angel out for some Prazi Pro treatments.

I would wait until the Falco comes out of QT. If you add another fish now, you'll have to start the Falco's QT all over again as the angel may be bringing in something. Better to err on the side of caution.

Hmmm, he's been in there for a week with Cupramine and one FW dip...Maybe another dip and bring him out of quarantine a little early...

If the falco's only been in there a week, make an egg crate divier and grab the angel. You can QT'em both togeether if there's no aggression remove the divider. You can prasi the falco it wont hurt him.

You only see these juvi majestics this young for short periods here and there. The had three, two smaller adults for 2x the cost of the juvi. I like getting juvis and watching them grow. He's in the first fish tank as you come out of inverts near the counter. Fantaisitc little fish. Since I am not ready to QT, I immediately though of you, should grabbed a pic on the BB!

Alright, I blame you, he's in my quarantine tank. Pretty nice fish, I will agree. I was concerned that he would get a beating from my PBT when he goes in the display, but I talked with the main fish guy at AF and his opinion was that the BIGGER majestic would get a beating, the smaller one would probably not be seen as a threat. And it was cheaper, too...
He also thought I shouldn't medicate or dip the fish unless i saw signs of flukes (cloudy eyes etc) but I am going to follow Coppolino's advice and do the Prazi and FW dips routine, as well as fatten the little guy up. He ate Formula One for me at the store, and has had some mysis in the Q-tank here. It's going to be a LONG couple of weeks!
The falco hawk got a final 5 minute FW dip, and into the display, so far so good.

Good Score! He's a great little fish!

I've been doing tons, I mean tons of reading on angels. And while, like everything else in this hobby there are as many opinions as , .... well ... you know ... The popular wisdom among the angel "experts" is that treating for flukes with prasi is a MUST! with all angels.

I've seen many post that it is easy, effective, and not harmful to other fish, or larger inverts. Worms, flukes and some say RBs (not buying that last one), not so much. They will take a lick'n.

RB's? I'm a bit off on my lingo this morning, Bax old boy, what are RB's?

Scott Michael's Angels & Butterflies (soon to be a movie starring Tom Hanks) say tht the Pomacanthus Tribe grow very fast, so I'm hoping that there will be a brief but fondly remembered puppy stage, and this angel will get to 4-6" pretty quickly. It's a big tank for a small fish.

Yeah, great idea! I'm gonna zap my tiny baby angel with a strobe to make you happy! I got two words for ya! GOOGLE IMAGES! (is google a word?)

Trust me this fish is beautiful!

Regarding the RB reference, I was just say'n rumor is .... I am still counting on Interceptor to prevent RBs.

That said, I can't wait for a pic either! ;D
