Lets see your freshwater tanks!

I just rescaped the 75, it used to be a high light co2 and ferts setup but I went away to costa rica for the summer and couldnt maintain it. So now its all low light plants and I think it looks good for low light. Lets see your tanks!

Dang thats beautiful- i know that tropiquarium has the green plants that grow only ont he bottom i know rica is somewhat in the name. always wanted the stuff but no where ever had it- it adds a very nice green color to your sand bed- i love the angelfish- reminds me of my trials of breeding them- fun times.

Thanks, every time I do a water change and move stuff around the water gets cloudy so thats not even in its full glory. I also need a better camera this point and shoot stuff isnt cutting it.

yeah when i had my tanks i should have added peat moss and some other substrates instead of having just the red clay crap.

that substrate is actually soilmaster select grey which is pretty nice and it soaks up nutrients well for those root feeders. I still have tons of it left. turns out its kind of rare these days as lesco doesnt make that color anymore.

It doesn’t get any lower tech than my freshwater tank. The experts will tell you it can’t be done, but it’s 75 gallons with a stone substrate (no mud, sand, peat or anything other then a bunch of stones), fully planted (four varieties of plants), low lights (2, 40W T-12s in a shoplight fixture from Home Depot), no CO2, no ferts., other then fish poo. The plants grow like crazy, needing to be “mowed” every month or so. I’ve got a 40 gallon goldfish tank as well….same stone base but with fake plants…goldfish eat anything green.

I have a 75 gallon tank for my Oscar, Chester Cheeto. Basic setup, 2 aquarium lights from Home Depot, 2 AC110 filters, 2 300 watt Stealth Heaters. He's 2.5 years old and survived a jump out of the tank / I found him a few hours later on the carpet.

Wow, two, 300 watt heaters in a 75 gallon. Why so much wattage? I have a single heater and I think it's 100 or 150 watt in my 75 and it keeps the tank toasty.

I have a 75 gal tank with 3 discus, assortment of tetras (rummie nose, cardinals, and black neons just to name a few species), and 3 species of rainbow fish. I have a 7 year old Pigeon Blood Discus. I will post pictures once the algae issue gets under control.

In my tank the water movement is low due to the fish I keep. By having two heaters it keeps the water temp. even. Before I put the second heater in one side of the tank was at the correct temp and the other was a little too cold.

I put 2 in for redundancy incase 1 fails and more importantly because my basement gets incredibly cold in the winter and I was afraid 1 wouldn't be enough.
