Love my reefmat 500 I'll never use socks again
Just a small update,
I ordered my plumbing for this tank and so far only 1 item has arrived. To give myself some redundancy (and peace of mind) I ordered two 1/2in Loc Line, in-line check valves.
My plan is to have them installed on split return lines. Not sure how they will work, but we'll see.
Drill a hole in the underside?these work fine but significantly reduces flow, may whistle and get clogged, i've used them before. you're better off drilling a small hole on one of the loclines to break the siphon.

I'm liking the Red Sea ato, and I figured i go that route to keep all under the app. My lfs carries them so I can get it anytime.I use an auto aqua ato/awc smart something I had to get creative with it to pump water up from my basement. The original one was the best. This one is really expensive and not as good.
