I know you guys are probably sick of me posting but I have a ton of questions... sorry...
I was thinking hard about what Hawkeye said about a QT and figured I can put a small 10 gallon under my tank. I have a tunzee 9002 in tank protein skimmer, maxijet or a koralia nano for circulation I would just need a light...(Can't be too expensive)...
Am I forgetting anything? What do you think about that idea... will this equipment be suitable for a qt?

I'm in old bridge by the high school. What you have is more than enough. I stay away from aquaridise. He doesn't drip acclimate his fish. He floats and cuts the bags. It's awful. ACC, trop, and aquatic obsessions.

Okay... sounds good thanks for the heads up... I live around the corner from BK on Stevens Ave... I will look up ACC and Aquatic Obsessions... Trop is great but a bit of a drive.. I liked having Aquaridise 5 mins from my house but not if it's not worth it...

Awesome Thanks... I plan to hook up my plumbing tonight and maybe test my water again and if all are 0 I will probably go tomorrow afternoon to pick out a fish or two... can I start with maybe 2 Blue/Green Chromis?
I was told to not go with a cleaning crew until about a week after a couple of fish have had time to produce waste for the cleanup crew to eat... is that true?

I have a four bulb t5 fixture you can have for free if you want? The digital display on it burned out, and you'd need to replace it (It's like 14.99). And it's programmable. You'd also need to make a new splash shield for it as I'm using it as a cover for my 75g :p

my 2 cents - get what you need. There is no need to get a "55 gallon" package as nothing is really perfect for a person's tank in a specific stage of maturity. If I were starting up and maybe had some diatoms or algae here or there - i might get a few cerith snails for sand bed maintenance and maybe a few astrea (for glass/rock cleaning). They will die if they fall on their backs though (astrea).

If you prefer hermit crabs - you could get them now and just remember to drop some pellets or similar for them to eat. Blue legs are by far the cheapest but the drawback is that they may prefer escargot eventually. The most expensive are scarlet hermits (supposedly nice to snails).

Urchins are cool but they do eat coralline algae - which some people view as a nice to have - ergo them eating the algae isn't great. Mine has been with me for years now and when he is really hungry he just gets on the algae clip i have for my tang.

I have not had any long term luck with fighting conches but they are so cool to look at lol.

Nassarius snails are good for eating fish food that is missed. So again similar to hermits if you add them before fish, they need to be fed.

Finally shrimp are very cool - cleaner shrimp can set up a "station" and clean your fish occasionally. Blood shrimp are beautiful but do have claws and i think my pair ate my clam when i left on vacation...sigh.

honestly i don't see any of these things as cleaning. More they are fun to look at lol. The snails help clear some algae.

Most efficient are amphipods and mini brittle stars - and those are typically free (ask fellow reefers).

The first one has a cool like see through tentacles/feathers that come out and wave in the water then as soon as a fish or something swims by it shoots back inside....awesome!

I believe I see banding on those tentacles and that would make that a mini brittle starfish.....a good hitchhiker.

Fred, I thought I saw banding on the tenticles, which is typical to the small brittle stars that end up in our tank. Here is a typical small brittle star. Note the banded tenticles.

Hey red.... yeah like I said maybe it's a baby but it's tentacles/feathers are translucent. And they come out of what looks like a little white stem that looks like it's part of the coral... it hasn't moved at all either... I'll attach the typed out link to a video i uploaded to you tube since the forum won't let me attach a real link to a video.
