Posting this to remind everyone about being prepared for power outages. Make sure you have everything you need to keep your livestock alive in one easy place to get to. I also recommend that you get something that can hook up to your car for power or a generator. Storm season is coming and we all should be prepared.
Last night out of nowhere my power went out and the rest of the block too. I don't know what happened because there was no storm at all and it wasn't even raining. Trying not to panic I went to the fish supplies where all of my battery powered air pumps are and started to hook them up. I have 3 of them and they worked perfectly the last time I used them which was last summer. Well not this time. Two didn't work so I found the adapter thing to plug into the car battery to get some oxygen to my fish and coral from my tunzes. I put the one battery powered air pump upstairs in the biocube. Since the entire block was out and more the power got back on within a hour or two. This is why everyone should be prepared for this situation! I thought I was prepared but I wasn't. I really recommend that you check all of your equipment for this situation and make sure it still works! Like I said there wasn't even a storm so this was very unexpected. You can never be too prepared.
Here is a list of some things that would be helpful in case of a power outage and feel free to add to the list in your posts.
Battery powered air pumps
Adapter to hook up to car
Generator
Flash lights
Batteries
Candles
Extension cord
Cup to pour into water for oxygen
Towels
Air tubing
buckets and containers to take out water from tank to prevent overflowing water
This is what I can think of off the top of my head but I'm sure there is more. Like I said feel free to add more.
