rons 70 gal upgrade

I am upgrading from my 20 gal to a new 70 gal tank.
Here is a picture of my 20
FTS.jpg

I built the stand for the 70 out of 1" tubular steel, then skinned it with 1/2" plywood. The top and bottom of the stand are 3/4" ply. I then used fiberglass shower liner and glued that to all of the walls and lips. I made 4 doors the front is a double door and one on each side for easy access.
Here are some pictures of the stand

As you can see in the pictures I also put in the baffles in the sump and drilled it for an external return pump
I am using a Ehiem 1262 as a return

Some of the equipment for this tank is
2 Phosban reactors
ETSS sump buddy 40 protien skimmer
Vortech mp40 with battery backup
Mag 7 for the skimmer
4" filter socks

By the way I am upgrading to an 70 gal Tech tank

Looking forward to seeing those pictures! If you have updated links you'd like me to replace the broken ones with I'd be happy to!

Thank you
It took a while and i forgot to take pictures during construction
so mad about forgetting to take the pictures

The flex hose on the Drain can that be cut ant the end glued back on or if I cut it I won't be able to get it on? I don't like the loop it makes.

Welcome to tht Tech Club. Great stand.

The hose will not be a problem if you like the sound of a public toilet with flushing sound (personal experience :-[). Otherwise straighten it out.

Looking forward to the rest of the build.

I needed loops in mine to keep it quiet. If it is quiet, I would leave it alone. If it ain't broke...

Thats is one awsome set up Ron. Nice Vortech!

Dont make any bad comments about his tank or he will get medievel on you!!
;)

Profanity removed. Please keep it clean!

Go figure mine flushed like clockwork. FYI it took me few months to get flow, drains, etc in line so that it was quiet. I have mine in the family room so wanted it quiet. I found that the durso pipes are pretty deep so if you want the water coming into the overflow to be quiet you cannot run a lot of GPH because you get a waterfall sound. Now the loudest sound I have is the sicce pump on the skimmer sucking air. Not too bad.

I have an in sump Mag12...I dialed it back some and I am in the process of splitting the return to go through the TLF reactor that I have. I gave up GPH for quieter overflow. But hate to totally waste the pump so am using it for the TLF.  I will let you know how it goes.  I got everything and plan on plumbing it this weekend.

PS I have the 120 so duel overflows.

Cool thanks for the noise info
I shall see when I start it up to test after the 24th

Thanks for the nice comments on the stand
I couldn't have done it without the boards to get ideas
That how I decided on 3 openings to make everything accsessable

I will have all the electronics mounted to the back of the stand with a good old American Di power strip
I think I'm stuck until the lights come in because the power supplies will be on the back of the stand

I dunno...did you check the TDS of that water before you put it in? ;)

I'm not a fan of the loop either - you could order some flex pvc instead.

Im makeing brackets for my electronics on the back of the stand today, hopfully this week I will weld togeather the rack for the solaris power supplies
