rons 70 gal upgrade

Here is an update
I have the tank up and running, however the overflow is noisy, I cut back the return but the loop in the tubing is giving me the toilet bowl. On that bulkhead are there other options to get a smaller straight run to the filtersock on there?

Here are some Pictures

I know the vortech wire isn't tied up, I have to determine the perfect placement.
I am trying to cycle without using livestock hence the shrimp in the tank

It's hard to tell from the pictures, but if there is room in the overflow, put in a durso. That should eliminate the "toilet bowl flush" you are hearing.

Just shorten/straighten the pipe that will get rid of the flushing sound. The techs come with a durso but the size is actually large so you get a good drop from the teeth of the overflow to the bottom of inlet. After checking out Phils tank I dialed back my pump this slowed the overflow down and created a lot less noise. I just T'd off the return for a TLF reactor yesterday to make use of the return pump and keep my flow up in my sump. Phil has a similar setup it does make it quieter.

I will have updates on sat with the new lights
My vortech should be back today had a problem with that
Ecotech has super quick turn around
I sent it out wednesay night it will be back today
The shrimp looks cooked wit a bubble around it now
Ammonia is sky high

Here is a nightime full tank shot

I had to get this birdsnest out of my other tank It bleached in 2 days.
Don't worry the new tank finished cycling in less than a week. Had the rock in the garage for 5 months with water changes and used all live sand.

My question is how would I save this
The polyps are still extended but it looks like it has expelled all of its zoanthelle
Can it be done?

Uupdate
Skimmer was finally skimming yesterday app parameters are good. Had a diaom bloom 2 days ago. Put a small CUC inwaotonh for the group buy for the rest of the crew. Currently I have my clown, purple stripe psuedochromis, and Pygmy angel. I also added a cleaner shrimp.
Which type of snail eats diatoms? I might get a few to help with the bloom for now.

astraes do a great job on diatoms in my opinion. Course I also have a mexican turbo and chestnut turbo i got from AqOb - and i have to say that big snail pulls it's weight. However it will undoubtedly knock frags over so keep that in mind.

I switched out the JBJ auto top off for a autotopoff.com unit

For my application it works much better because it is more sensiitive, I added a selinoid to the end so i don't have extra water training since the line rus in the ceiling and down the wall to the tank, and i have a slow pump so now it doesn't time out.

Great unit
I just wish it was easier to switch the height with using clips or something like that the zip ties are a pain,
i guess once it is set you never have to do it again

I think i am completley safgaurded.
I don't know if I need to but should i put a floatswitch in the overflow box to cut off the return pump if the level goes too high?

I have my return and a 1" drain in the box.
My overflow box has small slits and a cover also.

I want to avoid floods at all costs

everything survived when I was on vacation
however my bottom float switch got stuck in the up position while I was away.

Good thing i had someone check everything out halfway into the week.

Has anyone had this happen with the autotopoff.com units? What was the solution for you to keep it reliable?

Yesterday i added about 40 snails and a one spot foxface to the tank. I will get a shot of him as soon as he is a little more comfortable in the tank

I should have some updated pics this week

Everything is doing great

My ato switch gets stuck ever couple weeks in the up position so it won't top off at those times
any sugestions?

i have no exp with the ato's - but if you have the extra cash - a tunze osmolator is a superb ato choice. 5 years - have had 2 of them (one for each tank) and never had a problem.

Reef Fanatic Level Controller w/2 Float Switches is the the top off unit I got. For some reason my link didn't work. :-X I got it at our group buy in Jan. I will post some pics soon on my thread works great so far.
