Sad Morning

This morning I woke up and immediately knew what happened. I didn't see my longnose hawk on the powerhead, gorgonian, or algae clip. I looked around the floor and eventually found him behind the sump.
I'm so upset by this [emoji17]
I knew they were jumpers but figured as long as I didn't mess with him it would be okay. And after all I went through to get him home from across the country, having him bagged specially and getting TSA to let me on the plane he ended up jumping less than a week later. My absolute favorite saltwater fish, and he ended up jumping through the 2" gap where my return comes back in.. [emoji24]

Don't use glass as that will prevent gas exchange and may inhibit light penetration...

With the mesh you can cut it to size and shape it to fill in the gaps

Sorry to hear. I lost my first one that way, found one of the few openings to fit through.

Don't think I will be buying another one. The $30 is a decent amount to me and I don't want to take a chance of it getting thrown down the drain again. Just sucks because my tank looks so empty now and my cardinal is hiding again because she has nobody to play with

I figure I have enough gas exchange with the powerhead pointed up and an open sump with lots of movement. I needed glass anyway because the evaporation is terrible

No not enough gas exchange. Some think too that using a skimmer adds additional more oxygen to the tank and that has been provin to be false. Go to lowes and get a screen frame kit and build your mesh top. Using eggcrate will cause you light loss Sorry about your fish. I had two clownfish that did the same thing too.

Regardless I need the glass top because the evaporation is that bad and my room is extremely humid. I cannot get rid of it. My dad is the one who made me get a glass top even though I brought up those points.

Sorry for the loss Tyler, a mesh cover or a canopy is the way to go, as other said you need the air exchange, if the evaporation is too much you need an ATO.

Wow! I have never experienced that. I have a 90g in my office. The room is a 10x10

Yeah, I'm not sure why it happens. When you go upstairs in my house its already warmer but when you step in my room it feels another 3 or 4 degrees higher from the humidity

My house has a dehumidifier but my room is just that bad. It's a 10x10 bedroom with a full size bed, a 5' desk and my 46 with a stand so theres barely enough room to walk lol
