Seahorses

Ok thank you for explanation, wasn’t trying to tell anyone their job just seemed off to me , but then again I barley understand this online stuff. I grew up with pay phones and carrier pigeons. Hahaha
Hahaha. At 52. You probably never saw Martha the last carrier pigeon who died in 1914. But I hear ya brother. I sometimes feel like the oldest guy in the room. Social media like twitter and face book are beyond my understanding (I have never actually seen either) and forums like this one still confuses me... but I have learned to accept Its me

nice. It’s a Banggai Cardinal. Beautiful fish. I have one as well. My experience is they can be shy for a week or two but will eventually be very bold. Mine is always out and at front of glass. Very nice fish. Bothers nothing. And it bold black and white (almost silver) Really stand out.

Ok so I did a water check and much better than two days ago, two days ago numbers were
PH 8.4
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 1.0
Nitrate 20
And today they are
PH 8.0
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0.50
Nitrate 10
Things r looking up but still lousy it drives me nuts with my OCD, this is bad hobby with ocd

I don't want to say I am OCD but I am very particular about stuff so know what you are saying. As an artist I go into real details so little things in my tank make me nuts lol
I did suggest you cycle... :rolleyes2:
But I am a bit jealous you can get fresh ocean water for your tank.

I would only test ammonia, nitrate and PH but only if necessary.
Meaning I think if there is a problem to cause the animals acting peculiar or dying.

So new still learning how to do things but making progress ,, a month ago I would never be able to test water I didn’t even know what it meant

Ok so today one of my peppermint shrimp molted, I found its shell in tank and thought it died but was happy when I saw it was still around. Cool little things

Also on the subject of my tank cloudiness problem Motortrendz hooked me up with a super skimmer called a Diatom Filter,, my tank looks 60 percent better already,, I plugged it in around 12ish today, can’t wait to see it again when I leave for work at 3am. I’m pretty stoked now Also toying with idea to purchase some live rock already matured with lots of purple coralline to spruce it up,, from what my test results show and Motortrendz opinion I’m just inches away from a cycle and have to hang in there
Better be worth it. Lol

This is a quandary because if you buy live rock already encrusted, it will more then likely be from tropical area. They sell purple coraline in a bottle that you could use instead that may adapt to your colder tank. That's the other thing about having a reef with the seahorses you have... are not compatible because of temperature differences. You will have to find coral that is cold adapted.

I can give you some pink scrapings if you want to try and then they get some extra calcium for growth.

I used purple up in two colors, pink and purple. Took a long time. But I do now have pink and purple coralline. However. I have a reef tank. So I assume the strain in the bottle is tropical. But I am not sure. Perhaps. Scrapings is best way to go.

Deetu thank u for generous offer I might take u up on that the rock I was thinking of getting is at ACC and their tanks r at 74 ,, I have been slowly raising temp in my seahorse condominium and now I’m at 71.5 to 72 tops. I won’t go any higher and wanna actually bring it down one to one n half degrees I’d be comfortable at 70.5 so hope that’s good enough to get some color The live rock I have now has little patches of purple now spread out here and there

Ok for those of you that question the use of ocean water here is an update on my tank
PH 8.0
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5
I now have a Fully cycled tank in only 2 weeks. Nice, only thing is to get it cleared up better almost there

Get me thinking. Starting to get a little algae on front glass.
Debating if I should throw in my UV sterilizer or wait.
