I have to admit I took great pride and joy building my stand for my 45 cube, but as I continue to do research for my upgrade, I'm seeing more pictures of the Elos stands which are a fraction of the build that I have used to hold up my current tank. Elos is considered top notch, and I have read that you have to use their stand for warranty purpose (like all tanks), but I'm still amazed that most of us go about building stands with 2x4 and plywood skins, when the largest of the tanks Elos and other company's are selling are just held up with 3 boards of MDF or possibly plywood.
I'm not suggesting to lessen anyone's build,if I had to build one again, I'd do it the same way. I'm just amazed so little support can carry so much weight. I think 120 gallons of water weighs roughly 1200 lbs.
