"Suitcasing" at RAP?

Definitely was happening! An item I had purchased, the President/Owner was at RAP with a vendor badge (of not his company), roaming the isles drumming up business. And don't ask, I'm not going to out him.

I'm so out-of-it that I had to look this up (the following is a definition from Law Insider (Suitcasing Definition | Law Insider):

"Suitcasing refers to the practice of attending a trade show but “working the aisles” from a suitcase or briefcase, soliciting business from other attendees and exhibitors. For the good of the show and the exhibitors supporting the show, the only legitimate place to conduct business during show hours is within a contracted exhibit space on the show floor. Exhibiting companies are encouraged to protect their investment and report any violations to ConnectWise management. Attendees observed soliciting business in the aisles or other public spaces, or in another company’s booth, will be ejected from the Event and may be banned from future events in ConnectWise’s sole discretion."

all you have to do is go on YouTube. there was a few stores handing out goods with their stores name on it. and they clearly show themselves doing it on their YouTube channel.

So much going on at RAP...I wouldn't have realized.
Sound alike people avoiding booth fees and "working the show" from their suitcase. Why not just pay for a booth?

Here's A little club history....and yes, suitcasing has happened at NJRC swaps.

In 2008 we had a good sized frag swap in Secaucus....loads of vendors, speakers and a luncheon included. It was more or less our dry run before hosting MACNA in 2009. With the swap going on, a member came rolling in and in a loud voice for everyone to hear announced, "5 dollar frags here." I'm not sure who it was, but as the crowd gathered around, he was escorted out.

Are you allowed to yell $5 dollar frags from standing behind your booth?

Also let's get these swaps everyone speaks of back !!

The issue is not him yelling “$5 dollar frags”. The issue is he didn’t have a booth. So there are vendors that paid for a booth basically being undercut by a guy who just came to sell frags.

Unfortunately this goes on at just about every frag show. Vendors who have not purchased booth passing out sticker/coupons/flyers and trying to sell stuff at the shows. It does undercut and piss off all the vendors who bought booths.

I understand the macro issue (if this happens enough, vendors will stop coming) but from a micro issue, if there was a great deal on a $5 frag, would you buy it. I hate to say i probably would.
