Tank crashed!

That really stinks. A simple mistake and it ruins everything. When your ready let me know and your welcome to frag some of my stuff. Most of it is everyday sps, zoa and some soft stuff, but at least it will give you something to build off of

Thanks guys I think I hav enough water and salt, I got the alk down to 14 today unfortunately most sps did not make it some lps should along with zoas and palys.

For all who are wondering how this might have happened. Here's how it went, I wasn't dosing any cal only small amounts of alk. I never test my water so a couple days ago I tested it because my color was a little weak. The test showed my cal was under 300 so I decided to dose a little cal so I set my doser to 10 Mils a day.
Unfortunately when I set it instead of hitting the auto option I hit the on option. Along with this and I don't know how once again I must have mixed up my alk and cal jugs so it dumped most of a gal of alk solution into the tank and by the time I realized what had happened alk was over 20.
Man when it rains it pours

ahhh, sorry to hear Rob. i know how it feels, its devestating but look at it this way..it'll be easier for you to upgrade...i'm not saying you should i'm just looking at a possible bright side to all this. lol

like i said before, once you have things stable, ill see what ill be able to frag out for you!

Me and Daniel stopped by tonight and the tank looked like it was pretty stable. I'm confident that Rob will be able to save most of his corals with the large water changes he's done.

Just keep an eye on it bud and you'll get it all worked out. :encouragement:

Just saw this. I'm in Jackson too. I have about 70g of fresh water if you need it. I also have a BOAT LOAD of spare tanks (ranging from 5g to 210g), pumps and equipment. Let me know if there is anything you need and I'll see if I have it.

Rob, stop by my booth Saturday, I will hook you and your son up. Really sorry that this happened...

Sorry to see this post Rob. Hope everything starts turning around for you which sounds like your parameter are starting to go back to normal. Glad to hear that this didn't discourage you. I know you will get that tank up to your standards again.
I'm glad to be part of this club that helps out people when in need. As everyone else has said your your ready to stock the tank up with some corals LMK. I got a few things I can frag.

Unfortunately no. In ironic twist I will be breaking down my tank and putting it in storage this weekend. I just don't have the time to care for it like I want.

It's great to see people help in an emergency. I looked at the posts prior and was grateful that I know most of these guys. I can tell you this - when I had bulkhead cracks on my 300 gallon DT I had help (thanks curt!) till 2 am getting it stabilized.

Update..... We'll it seems the tank is stabilizing the alk is down to 11, I know still high but it's going down slow. With the help of Brian Aka "fish brain" I drilled my 20 gal and set up a temp frag tank tied into my sons 40b

Not some corals have a place to live while the tank gets better
