So, with an offer I couldn't refuse, followed by more offers I couldn't refuse, here's the team (so far)...

120g (vinegar bathing)
IMG_9157.jpg

Jecod 6000 DC return with controller
IMG_9153.jpg

12g Frag tank
IMG_9158.jpg

3 Kessil a360w with Apex link
IMG_9155.jpg

Coral Box D500 DC with controller
IMG_9154.jpg

Custom 302 Aquatics sump (47g) with algae scrubber
IMG_9156.jpg

I will be drilling the walls for a basement sump setup, including tapping the water intake and output of the house.
It will be an automated system.

Here's the scoop. I'm going to need some help going through puberty.
If a few of the Brick/Point/TR locals are available on a Saturday aftrnoon in the next week or two afternoon for hours to brainstorm, I'll provide beer and some kick arse Mexican.

We can take notes, drill holes to find out where we shouldn't drill holes, and do some sketchups.
I'd seriously appreciate the help. Want to do this right and want to be able to expand the automation in the future.

What have I done...

Mark

Sounds awesome. Really great you have people to reach out to before the final build. Should be pretty sweet

The algae scrubber fix

As posted in Help - LED work & scrubber rebuild the algae scrubber that came with the tank had a number of non functioning LEDs and a few other concerns.

In not wanting to deal with another learning curve (LEDs) atm, I came up with another plan, which I share for your audio enjoyment.

Started with buying a square LED grow lamp per Judeo's suggestion, specifically https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HGR18ST/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Then I cut one side of the scrubber completely off and siliconed in a clear panel while painting over the opposing side's clear window...
IMG_9146.jpg

I borrowed a black plastic wall file hanger from work, inserted a couple of 6" long pieces of rigid 1/4" tubing through some mounting holes, then heated the tubing so it bent inside and out (forming an upsidedown U shape). Note the matches, only the highest tech here.

And , viola, we have a hanging file...
IMG_9149.jpg

Dropped the scrubber into position, and placed the grow light in the file holder...
IMG_9151.jpg

And we've got a lighting solution. I also lined the clear plastic of the scrubber holder with black contact vinyl as added security from stray light...

WTH was that? Someone should have either pointed it out or called an ambulance for me. Don't think I was drinking, but I'm probably wrong.

I hope for your sake you are working on that greenhouse.
Shhh, obviously all the fish stuff need to be cleared from the back before we can start such a project.

IF anyone is available for help/advice/contemplating/drinking/eating minifest perhaps Saturday, May 4th, around lunch?
I'll have the drills and sawzalls out.

JB, Sponge,
Thanks for the offers, truly appreciated, but I'm not drilling any glass.
The walls of my home may be a different matter.
