i noticed that my maroon clown is hanging out around my new brain coral. at night the corals tenticles are out and when the roon is awake they are in. he nips at it but i cant tell if its out of aggression or if he is trying to bond with it. im wondering if the roon needs to go. thats the only issue i have with him as long as i dont put anything in front of his cave
just a few update shots...i took a top pic of the acro because it looks bleached in the half tank pic. it actually doesnt look as green in person. its color is more like the bluegreen on the shroom.
ive also set up a 20 gal to hold my hippo till i can find it a new home. that fish has been terrorizing the brain and acro. the other fish im trying to remove is my coral beauty. it likes to nip at the acro. the hippo was easy to catch. it pretty much let me pick it up and place it in a bag in the 20. now its swimming away. i know the 20 is too small but the hippo had to go. the cb is a different story...not sure how to get it out without tearing the tank apart.

Thanks phyllis! ya know, that was a really fast reply. that was awesome. fishstores and a few people i know speak very highly of NJRC and i can see why. ive learned so much from the posts and threads ive read.you all definitly know how to have a good time.. im really looking forward to meeting some of you and hopefully share my tank with someone that needs a hand. you guys and gals do alot of really cool things for reefers in need from stuff ive read here. definitly mine and my wifes kind of people...anyway enough brown nosing....but from the heart...Len
i am curious about the different phyto products that are out there. in the past i have used phyto-green and gold and dt's plankton. last night i picked up a bottle of marine snow....what is better? i would assume dt's is since i believe its live, but i cant always get that without a roadtrip. what do you guys recommend?
yesterday the mrs and i took a little trip up to tropiquarim for some oyster feast and a few thingys and scored a couple nice frags. we came home with a tri color acro, favia, green bird of paradise for my tank and a scooter and lionfish for hers. if i had a screen on top of my tank, i would also have brought home a leopard wrasse and carpenter...time to make a screen i guess.

Nice pickups, Trop is my closest LFS and I go there quite regularly. They got in a ton of really nice fish last week, I saw the leopard wrasses too. Next time you go up, across the street is Reef to Reptiles which is another great LFS and a sponsor.
thanks alot! the trop did have some real nice fish when i went in. i gotta get off my butt and make a screen so i can add some wrasses. ill have to check out reef to reptiles. i didnt know it was there. my wife and i have been trying to get a road trip together where we visit more than just one place so it will be nice to have a second stop real close by. one of these days we'll get further north and check out some of the ones you guys rant and rave about. thanks again for the reef2re info
last night the the mrs and i went to a few shops down my way and picked up a target mandarin and i almost had a blue spot jaw bagged up when the guy said "make sure all the corners are covered and there are no openings...." yep, i gotta finish my screen...
on a different note, i figured out why i havent gotten my meembership card....my wife cleaned out her truck last night and said "looky here!" it was my check never sent....it will be in the mail today. hopefully ill be set up before aprils meeting. i have a really healthy hippo if anyone would like it and i can bring it to the meeting...

What I did for a screen to keep my blue spot and mystery wrasse from jumping was start with eggcrate. You can cut it to the top of your tank to make a frame. We then used acrylic screening to make the netting and now are fish stay in the tank and off the carpet.
thanks for the idea. yeah, i really gotta stop procrastinating on this...i only have about another week till my work season starts again and ill be going at it some long hours....i just got off the phone with my boss and we decided to play hooky from work to go up to tropiquarium so he can check it out. is reef to reptiles directly across?
nevermind, just found their web page...and the thread in here. i hope the corals are as sweet as what they posted in sept. im hoping trop is still having the 13$ frag sale too...the ones i got this past weekend are doing really well. the tricolor acro is real perrty. now im looking for a blasto,and maybe an acan frag, and some dendro
