Thanks for the welcome!!! I definitely plan on being active here. It only took me like 3 months to get to a 1,000 on r2r.

Hey all,
My Name is Matt I live in Riverton and have been into aquariums for as long as I can remember. My first big tank was a 55g Oscar tank that I had when I was in my early teens. Before that was just small 10g tanks and gold fish bowls. I sarted with12 Oscars and in the end had 4 GIANT whales left. they lived for years till ich took over them. I burried them in my backyard.

A friend gave me a JBJ 24g Nano tank a number of years ago and have been hooked on saltwater ever since! That same friend about 4 months ago took down his 90g tank and gave that to me with all his paraphernalia to go along with it. That re lit the SW fire for me and I have been back elbos deep in it since.

I think it has been super neat to see the difference from when I first set up the 24g tank to how much knowledge I have learned now. (I still have tons to learn)

I drilled the glass and removed the wet/dry filter and put in a 36" Trigger Ruby sump. I have about 70 lbs of Pukani dry rock in the DT and 20 or so in the sump. It is controlled with an Apex control system. I have a a Reef Octupus XP1000SSS skimmer. A BRS dual carbon/GFO reactor. 2 Tunze powerheads in the DT, and the Tunze ATO. I built the stand and canopy myself. For lighting I have the 4' coralife power CFL that came with the tank. I am hoping to be able to upgrade to something better soon but free is free so i will tanke it for now!

I took the livestock I had in the 24g and moved them all over. 1 percula clown, six line wrasse, skunk shrimp, hermits and snails. I added a Green Chromis to make sure the 90 was safe for the others. Since then I have added a healthy CUC and a Diamond Watchman Goby.

Coral wise I have a few little LPS frags that I have picked up from LFS.

I have been reading reefcentral regularly and am glad I found the NJFC because I don't know many people in my area that are into SW. I am hoping to meet some people to enjoy my hobby with in my area. I did join the club and would love to become an active member and help all that I can.

always nice to see representation from the south jersey/phila metro contingent matt - i'm in moorestown. it's also nice to find someone else sharing space at the end of the alphabet - as a fellow "z" name I've learned over the years that there are a relatively small number of us....
I have some frags of branching hammer that I need to clear off my rack – if you’re ready to add some more LPS shoot me a PM

Welcome Matt,
I work just a couple of towns over from you and I live not that fare away.

that was a serious self-intro! love it.

Welcome to the club and thanks for joining.

In terms of activities for the remainder of 2012:

Beach Clean Up - this is a bit far for you but it's happening up in Sandy Hook on Saturday the 15th.
September Meeting - welcome to all - you have to rsvp though - on Saturday the 22nd.
MACNA 2012 - Dallas, Texas. Only for the truly dedicated. But it was awesome when we hosted it in Atlantic City.
NJRC Frag Swap - November 2012 check out the announcements.

Also we just started the pa gb....if you need stuff, check it out.

p.s. last time we had a club meeting at adventure aquarium - which is close to you. Maybe you can push the officers to try that again! :D

Lol thanks

I coach my daughter's soccer team so Saturdays are busy for the next few months. However, I am going to try and make the frag swap. I don't mind driving up north at all. We are members of the Adventure Aquarium and go regularly.

It is a hermit crab. I have seen it more than one time also. I guess the Goby has a taste for crab legs. Well actually he only eats the body i think and then just dumps the rest. I can't figure it out. Speaking of crickets and spiders. When I had my Oscar tank when I was a kid we used to drop all kinds of stuff in that tank and watch them tear it apart. I remember one time we went to the pet store and got a pinky mouse and put that in. This sounds horrible now I guess but we were some crazy kids.
