Hello all! My name is Oksana. Originally from Ukraine. I have never seen saltwater fish or corals until I came into this country ten years ago. One day I had to buy a birthday gift for someone who I knew had fish, so I went to the store and bought the prettiest fish I could find - a clownfish. You probably already know the end of this story. The person was really surprised to get a clowfish since they had a freshwater tank.
"This is a saltwater fish! It will die! You have to get it back to the store" ???
"Saltwater??? What's that?" - I was totally surprised and amazed.
That's how I got hooked.
I bought 65 AGA about 5-6 years ago. I put it in my office since I worked long hours. I didn't know anything about saltwater fish and decided that the best way to go is to hire a service company. They did all the installation and service of the tank. In five years they couldn't keep anything alive. :'( I changed a dozen different people and no one could keep my fish or corals alive. I moved my tank to my house a year and a half ago and started from scratch. My tank looks absolutely beautiful now and a dream of having a BTA finally came true. All that reading and hard work is finally paying off.

I'm Eric, living in Barnegat currently but been a NJ resident for 32 years. Always had fresh water tanks since my teens varying from Parrots to Cichlids to Discus, and decided that it was finally time to venture into salt water & reefing! I'm currently cycling a 35g with 15 lbs cured Fiji rock & I can't wait to add that clean up crew of snails next weekend! I plan on doing very beginner corals only in this tank, with a pair of Ocellaris clowns, a gobie or basllet, a 6 line wrasse, and 1 centerpiece fish TBA. Originally, I wanted a tang but from what I've read my tank is too small to host one, so any suggestions would be appreciated!
Very happy I found this site 2 days ago, and went to visit Reefs-to-Reptiles as recommended by many people here on the forum just today. I wasn't disappointed! I met the owner & another member (reeferwannabe), whom were both very friendly and very helpful! Hope to have fun here and meet some great people!

Hi. I live in Palisades Park, NJ and have been involved in saltwater tank for about 3 years. I currently have 29 gallon bow front with 1 percula clownfish. It was paired for about 2 years before one started to attack the other. Earlier in the hobby, not knowing better, I had purchased yellow tang, powder tang, puffer fish, sea horse and various anemones(not all at once and in my 55 gallon tank which I no longer have), but without much success.
I recently bought a 95 gallon acrylic tank drilled, but having problems setting it up. I plan to do mostly reef on this tank. I also have a biocube 14 gallon which I will be setting up at work (sometime in December).

Name is Brandon as you can tell from my username. I recently got involved in the hobby about 2 months ago when my cousin decided to give me his biocube he had sitting around since he upgraded to his 30 gallon. I'm from north jersey and although it only has been 2 months I enjoy the hobby alot, except for initial high costs.
I hope to be around for awhile and want to thank everyone who has helped me or answered any questions I had and will continue to have.

You can say that again, DXSOR is my friend from college and he has to keep me in check from going out and spending $ on things heh.
But I must say if I'm feeling out of it or tired or anything when I sit and look at the fish tank and see my clown and everything it kind of brings a peaceful vibe over me.

Hello everyone. My name is Doug and I am very new to reef keeping. I was born in New York, lived there for 21 years before I moved to PA where I met my wife and then to Jersey. We have 2 beatiful girs, 2 dogs and now 7 fish. I was always into saltwater aquariums but never kept one until about 10 months ago due to the cost. Luckily I came across a pretty good deal and finally broke into the hobby. I have a 72 gallon bow front with a 10 gallon sump and 10 gallon refugium. It is stocked with: 1 Yellow tang, 1 blue hippo, 2 false perculas, 1 yellow patch fairy wrasse, 1 mandarin dragonet, and 1 lawnmower blennie. As far as corals I have xenia, dragon eye zoos, orange zoos, green mushrooms and a ton of something that looks like candycane coral but the coloring is different.
Hello All...New guy here from Monmouth County. I have a 72g bowfront reef tank that has been up and running for about 4 months now. I was into this hobby about 10 years ago when reef keeping was much more difficult, I moved and broke my tank down and never got back into it until recently. I stumbled across this site thru another forum. Glad to be here.
