there are a lot of us in this area....edison/piscataway etc. Now how many are actively posting is another story! :) The good news for you though is that you are like in the "perfect" storm area of having relatively close access to 3 good LFS - aquatic obsessions, red sand and ocean gallery II. People have their favorites so i'm sure you have your own already.

Hey everyone,
Im new here and to the hobby. I've been on aquarium advice for a bit, then I found out about this so here I am. I'm located in Bordentown, if there is anyone close let me know. I work in Elizabeth so I have a good portion of the state covered.
Oh yeah, I've got lots of questions for all of you so get ready.
My current tank is a 44 Gal corner Pentagon. Started up about 1 month ago. I have been getting advice from everywhere, my head has been spinning. I think I got most things under control. I also think I got some questionable advice. Hopefully I'll get through it all. Its a bit late now but I'll get a post going tommorow to go over everything. Thanks for reading. Looking forward to some good discussion.

Hey Graz, Welcome to the club!! The internet can be a confusing place when it comes to reefing. I haven't found anywhere else as helpful as NJRC. Everyone here is great and very helpful. Ask away!!

Hey Jim,
Question for you. Are there any good stores around. I've pretty much been limiting myself to the Fish Factory and Hidden Reef in Pa. What else is around us.

Allquatics is in Trenton on broad St right by the circle (maybe actually Hamilton there) - not as big as THR tho. It's good if you need something close by but their in store dry goods selection is limited / hit or miss

The only other one I'm aware of that hasn't been suggested it Aquarium Center in Blackwood, but that might be a little bit of a jog for you. I do most of my shopping on line and in group buys.

My introduction.....

Hello fellow NJ Reefers! I have been lurking around this site for some time and finally decided to join about a month ago. For the last year I have spent most of my time on some of the other sites that are out there but I wanted to get more involved hear because we are all local and thought it would be a good idea to get to know some of my reefing neighbors. I got back into the hobby a little over year ago with a 40g tank and then added a frag tank and have now gotten the go ahead to do a bigger build in the basement. How I got approval is a pretty funny story about a bet that I won with my wife and will share that another time. I first started in the hobby when I was 15...which was a while ago and worked in a store in Princeton called Aquariums Plus. Not sure if that store is still around...I know it moved a few times. I remember when all you had for filters were an under gravel and a canister filter...you were fancy if you had a UV and fancier if you had a protein skimmer that was run with a cork air stone.

Anyway, I am on the heels of my new build which will be an on site custom built tank that will be 60 x 36 x 30 and set up as a peninsula. I have spent the last 6-7 months collecting equipment that others are no longer using to try and save some money. I have decided to go with LED's (not sure which one yet) for lighting, closed loop for circulation will probably make my own sumps/refugium with rubbermaid stock tanks.

Thats all for now...just wanted to say hi and introcude myself. I am planning on creating a build thread once I am closer to everything starting.

It not too far I might check it out next thurs. I might definatly be interested in a group buy though if you keep me in mind.
