Hey everyone I’ve been into keeping fresh water fish for about 5 years and just recently about 6 months ago started keeping salt water! I love everything about this hobby and am ready to learn and share more with all you guys!!! I am also a navy veteran born and raised in north east Nj!!! Married w 2 dogs and a cat!!

Hello All,
I started with a 26 gallon fresh water tank about 4 years ago. After about 2 years with that, I was moving, so I decided to give my fish away to a family member, and sell that tank. I planned to upgrade to salt water.
After settling into my new place 2 years ago, I bought a Red Sea Max C-250 65 gallon tank.
That brings us to present time...and time to move again...
I will likely be moving towards the end of November, and I might move my currently running system, or I a thinking maybe upgrade (slightly) to a new Red Sea Max E 260 with sump and Apex Neptune.

Unfortunately, with the cramped quarters we were working in and the sheer amount of work (and short time to do it in) we really didn't get any time to film anything. I know he took some pics, not sure if he's planning to post them on his YouTube channel or not.
I am new to this club as I moved here with my family from Pittsburgh a couple of years back. I have kept my tank going but just recently really got back into it. I am an Environmental Scientist by Trade and have been doing Saltwater since the best thing was an under gravel filter. My tank is currently a 90 gallon lit by LEDs. No more Halides or Chillers. Lets just say moving a reef tank from 6 hours away is no fun.
My current system runs a Beckett Injected skimmer, DYI Kalk Reactor, 40 gallon breeder tank as a sump, a 10 gallon refugium, All equipment us run off of Sequence Dart pump. Corals are being raised from frags. I believe, we have no need to take these awesome creatures from the oceans anymore. Bulb Anemone that looks like it wants to split. Several Monti's, Xenia, and a beautiful small chalice.
If there is one thing I hate about this hobby it is dinoflagellates and bubble algae.

Welcome! I hate bubble algae as well, but been fortunate to not deal with Dinos. Same goes for aiptasia *knock on wood*

Welcome man. I'm fighting bubble algae now I seem to have it under control but will know better this weekend (when I am able to do a water change and can pull out the small remaining spots that I missed last week)
Hello everyone!
New to jersey, fairly new to reef keeping but come from a long background of having an aquarium at home. My mom and dad loves African cichlids growing up in Minnesota, I worked at petco in college and kept a pico reef of about 3 gals in Iowa and I stopped for a long time. Just recently moved to New Jersey and started back up another pico, this time a little smaller about 2 gals.
Currently there are some mushroom corals, zoas, leather toadstool, 3 red and 2 green types of macro algae.
I would love to meet up with fellow reef and pico/nano reef enthusiasts sometime, maybe swap some info on suggestions and such! Currently wondering what else to put in next. Sticking to softies for a while then maybe some small livestock like a single porcelain crab or sexy anemone shrimp. Maybe a dwarf goby, not sure yet.. So suggestions welcome! And please let me know if you have a coral frags that you think would be lovely in this little bonsai of a reef! I would be honored to share your coral and be able to feature it in the lovely marvel that is this cute little system.
A little about me, I went to school for music, bachelor of arts with a focus on voice, so I sang quite a bit classically in college. I am a huge advocate for foraging for edible and medicinal mushrooms anywhere from a gourmet dinner to a cup of hot tea that can fight off colds and flus. I worked at an organic mushroom farm after college and currently am in New Jersey because of my lovely spouse who I met traveling shortly after my intership on the mushroom farm. She is so important to me because she has brought a Lot of my dreams into reality and now thanks to her suggesting me the ad, I work at a company out of Bound Brooke, called Aquarium Service Professionals and install, tear down, and maintain custom aquarium tanks and ponds! I thought in college that cleaning fish tanks would be such a sweet gig and sure enough the love of my life found me the ad and said she always knew I wanted to do that so here I am now! Lol
Very happy to be back into the salt water, cheers all fellow pico tank enthusists, fellow aquarium keepers and fans of squishy invertebrates. Feels good to be back apart of a community that likes to support other people's shared passions for keeping reefs
