Welcome Ryan, I live in Chester and Adam's Pet Safari is still in business with a small salt water sectionHi all!
My wife, Ashley, and I stopped by the NJ Reef Club booth at the NJ Frag Fest yesterday. You all seemed quite nice and I decided to make an account here. I apologize that I don’t remember the names of the folks I spoke with. It was quite the whirlwind day. I did buy a couple corals and an African Sea Biscuit starfish that seem like they’re settling in well. Some pics are below - torches, rainbow chalice, pink goni, grandis paly, pink diamond zoas, and a forest fire digi
Anyways a little about me: I grew up in NJ and had been super interested in fish tanks when I was a little kid. I use to beg my mom to take me to Adam’s Pet Safari in Chester when Adam first opened the store. But I had to give my fish away when I went to college and wasn’t able to get back into it until 20ish years later when I finally had a house. I got a 46g Tideline AIO reef tank last February at Reefco. It’s been going pretty well so far, and I’ve been fairly addicted.
Currently, I live in Martinsville and work as an analytical chemist in Rahway.
I’m excited to meet lots of new folks on here!

Kat !!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally!! Very happy to have you back on here !Hi everybody, happy to be back here.
Hey Randy! Welcome to NJRC !! Were you at fragfest? We are all here to help you in case you need anything. Don't forget to start a tank thread so we can follow the journey.Hi everyone! Recently moved to Jersey and finally setting my tank back up!
Welcome to NJRC Tom !! That's awesome to hear. We are all here to help in your new hobby. Let's keep that dream of your dad's going!Hi everyone!
My name is Tom, and I’ve been following this club for a while. After meeting Treasurer Eric and Secretary Eric at the NJ Frag Fest, I knew I wanted to join.
I started out with simple freshwater tanks in school and college, but lost interest. My true passion for reefing began when my father—recently diagnosed with cancer—shared his dream of owning a reef tank. I helped him get started and quickly caught the “reef bug” myself, setting up a small 12-gallon tank so I could better assist him.
Sadly, my father passed away last summer, but I promised to keep his dream alive by caring for his fish and corals. Since then, I’ve gone from that 12-gallon to a RS Max Nano G2 XL, an IM Nuvo 40 and inherited my dad’s RS Reefer XL 525 G2+.
Reefing isn’t always easy, but it brings me a lot of joy. I’m looking forward to meeting and learning from all of you fellow enthusiasts who understand just how rewarding (and challenging) this hobby can be.
Thank you for having me!

Hello again! I introduced myself way back on page 3 in 2006 and I have come and gone on this forum throughout the years. The kids are way grown up and now I'm known as Grampy in the family and plan on retiring later this year.. Just reworked my 180 and when I get inspired I'll update my ancient tale of the tank thread.Hi everyone! My name is Bill.
I'm a couple of years older than Bob; I hope that doesn't make me the senior citizen of the group!
I'm married and have two kids in college, which is why my main tank is a 55gal for softies and LPS, instead of a 200+ monster with all the toys.
I started with freshwater when I was 7, salt the first year Underwater World opened, and reefs 5 years ago. I had a lengthy interruption not long after I started due to health and employment issues. All is well now and I'm getting back into the swing of reefin'. ;D
Damn, I was wondering where you disappeared to. Welcome back.Hello again! I introduced myself way back on page 3 in 2006 and I have come and gone on this forum throughout the years. Talking about coming and going, the trains are down so I can redo the benchwork, which I'm planning on starting soon! While it's down I'm painting the basement, upgraded the lighting and new train shelving will will the back wall. I know all these posts are worthless without pictures.!Damn, I was wondering where you disappeared to. Welcome back.
You still have the model train setup?
