What are these...???

They are like little conch shells with no opening. They are hard and are shaped like a conch shell even with the spiraled points on one end. My Pistol shrimp keeps pulling them out from his den under the rock. So far, there are two of them. I have a feeling there are more.

Or it could be the points that have broken off of a larger shell that have been eroded down a bit from tumbling in the sand.

So what are you concerned about?? They are harmless shells, that were probably in your rock. Pistols will always move small rock and shells in and out of their burrow.

No one ever said they were concerned. Just asked if anyone knew what they were.

Hey - i was wondering what the tooth fairy did with those teeth! ;)

The sand in your tank - were there little pieces like that in there? maybe it was in your sand when you purchased it?

have no idea if they were in the sand or not. It is a good explanation though.

Still not sure what these are, maybe a petrified shell as James said.

I think Phil's idea that maybe they were in your bag of sand sound's the most logical as to how they got there though.
