When I was a kid, I collected stamps and made periodic runs to Nassau Street in lower Manhattan. It was then that I came across the Aquarium Stock Company (AquaStock) off Church Street running between Duane and Reid. They were the largest tropical fish store in the area, and were 99.9% fresh water. I started up a 10g FW tank, but fell in love with their Ocellaris Clowns and Blue Devil Damsels, which was all the SW that was coming in at the time. I gave away my FW tank when I got drafted. When I was discharged in '69 I built myself an acrylic 20gh tank (all glass tanks weren't out yet). My first specimen was a red hairy Philippine hermit crab, and I've had marine fish and inverts ever since...

Being a Chinese: if you have a house - you got to have a fish tank - Feng Shui Stuff... (for good luck, good wealth...ets.)

once i got my house, i immediately want a FW fish tank, and while shopping around, i realized that FW is like a black-and-white picture, and SW is a beautiful color photo! SW as it !!

One day I went to a LFS, i saw a 210g tank on sales with $500 less sticker price - wow, that a great deal!! and that size fit my wall perfectly! the store owner ask me, do you want fish-only? or corals? i said - ofcourse with Corals! then the hell start to break lose... overflow, sump, pump, powerhead, light, live rock, live sand... the next thing i remembered when i walk out of that store, i was out of $$$$$ from my pocket!!

by the time i got home, i keep thinking something is not right!! it won't look good!! so after some more thinking - i decided to hire someone to open up the wall, so it can be see through from both sides!

the tank have some issues before: red bug, aiptasia, hair algae... and been re-do few times so far...
once i started something, i don't intent to quit so easy... hanging in there...

here is a pic of it from one point in time...
