Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I know it's early, but the little guys have hit southern New Jersey....get your feeders out there. My starting formula is to heat up 2 cups of water, add 1 cup of sugar and then top up to 3 cups.
If you're interested in tracking, the above map came from Hummingbird Central
Here’s the UN code on the drum. To put it bluntly, this means it’s made from FDA-Compliant resins for containment of food and cosmetic products. This is "higher" than the Brute cans.
Not sure who the manufacturer is, but THIS LINK explains the UN coding.
And here’s the recycle code.
Let me start with your last question….I’m an old fart and don’t waste my time on any social media sites. So I don’t have Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc. To put it differently, I have a life!:cool:
Now as far as these drums, I’ll take a closer look tomorrow, but I do know they are...
Found a local place that has clean 55 gallon drums $10 a piece:
Drums contained citric acid that's been rinsed out. Even if there was residual, it wouldn't hurt anything.
Guy located on the Sayreville / South Amboy border close to Rt 35, Rt 9 and the Parkway. Here's the Craigslist...
Well this is confusing. I just went to their website (www.reefingusa.com) and they have the Secaucus show happening 3/26/23...already happened on my calendar. AND Jersey City show (336 Central Avenue) happening on 4/2/34. So are they having two shows in NJ, one already happened, or do they...
Wow, change the location at the last minute. They are going to tick off a bunch of folks who end up going to Jersey City. This location is no better....as far as parking. No, it's not at the Expo center that RAP was at. It appears to be a closed Columbian restaurant, about a half mile...
Your testing is off either in your salinity being very low or testing of alk, calc and mag. Instant Ocean at 35 ppt should be around 400 Calc, 11 dkh Alk and 1350 Mag.
Jim, I remember this being demo'ed at one of our meetings....maybe 2008 or so. It's the only wavebox that I've ever seen that truly worked. If I remember correctly, at the time, Tunze was the only powerhead that could be switched on and off repeatedly. If someone is looking for a wavebox...
You are correct...that first one is a wet/dry trickle sump common with freshwater. I have heard of people converting them to salt, but believe there are better options. My suggestion is a 40B sump. More volume, better choice. I too have a 90 gallon and have what I though was a 40B, but...
Agree a mini split/ductless unit is the way to go for a nice finished look. However, there is one other setup you could consider, and if only interested in cooling, most likely the least expensive. First pick up the window air conditioner you'll need....let's say a 15K unit. Now cut a...
Couldn't quickly find it online at a dollar store, but did find it at Temu for under 2 bucks HERE or at Harbor Freight for $4 HERE. When I've ordered from Temu in the past, it took about a week to get here. So that's what they are called....flexible grabber tool.....I like nose picker better.
Mark, do you have a nose picker….sorry, that’s what my kids called it when they were growing up. I’d try using that to fish out the parts from the bottom of the overflow. If you don’t have one, they are pretty inexpensive….and I think some dollar stores might have them in their hardware...
Common practice in Florida to use ocean water, especially with aquarium maintenance companies. I've seen a water truck pulled out to the end of a pier sucking up water. I'm also pretty sure @Paul B runs his water through a diatomaceous earth filter.
@diana a , I feel the same way….no such thing as overskimming. If there is nothing there to skim, it won’t skim….but again, their efficiency is down around 25%, so it’s not an issue. When I first started I was into beckett’ed skimmers and on my 90 DT I started with an MRC M1…don’t remember...
