The magnesium levels that my trident have been reading have been showing low. It's typically off from hanna, but in a predictable manner. I only usually follow alk, but after reading this and struggling with some sps frags and now a few torches I measured. It's low, I'm at 1080. Following...
Man be careful with those turbos. I ordered 5 for the frag tank, 1 is bigger than a golf ball, another as big as a medium sized lemon. Those two flip over frag racks daily....
I have the Trident and the Trident NP. I've read a lot of folks having issues with the NP, but it's been steady now for a couple weeks. It's not spot on to my hanna, but the differences are stable. I'm happy with it so far, but expect to get the Maven once it comes out. Once we stand up the...
Is this a new tank? Once the diatoms absorb any silicates in the tank, and they been ate by snails your problems are over. Trochus snails eat diatoms. Cheap and they'll eat almost anything else.
As a note, those nitrates are very low, and the phosphates are kinda high.
Ammonia Dosing is how I'm feeding our corals now. Not sure if anyone here has tried this, but it's working good for me. I'm running the frag tank fishless. Just snails, pithos crabs, a few hermits, and peppermints are the only inhabitants aside from corals and algae. I was dosing phosphates...
I was upset at first, but now I feel better. A stomatella snail was introduced into the new tank as a hitchhiker from a TCK order I received. A few weeks later I accidentally mushed it while doing some tank maintenance.
Today I started finding some babies, so at least she had some time to...
Everyone has an opinion, a different environment in their reef, and different goals they are trying to achieve. That info may be right for certain tank types and shapes, but wrong for others. You get to decide on what your reef is.
I've been using Kessil since I moved to adding corals to my tank. Recently I've been picking up used AP700's for around $200 a pop for a project I'm working on with a couple of my sons. One deal got me three for $500. Great light for the current used market price. The app for the ap700 kinds...
