I hate to do this but I'm trying to add another wrasse to my tank and the laboutei won't stop harassing him in the acclimation box. It is a subadult male that is quickly transitioning into a male and is coloring up very nicely. I have plans to add several other wrasses and am concerned that he...
I think thats probably why I saw some improvement when I started dosing acropower. My fish do get fed 5 or 6 times a day but there are only 15 in there and most are small. I loaded up my kayak tonight and am heading out fishing tomorrow night. Maybe I will bring home a 30 lb striper for the...
It is interesting how the perception of overstocking has shifted in the past few years. When I first got back into the hobby most recommended housing very few fish if you wanted to keep sps. Now there seems to be a better understanding that can lead to starved corals. I struggle to measure...
It's coming up on three weeks since I switched over to metal halides. One of my montis started to bleach but it seems to be fine since I moved it to a lower light area. A red dragon frag RTN'd on me. It had been in my tank for two months but didn't really seem to be growing.
On a positive...
I siphoned out as many as I could last night and then took the fuge off line and treated with FWE. It seemed to effect them pretty quickly. I gave it a few hours and then ran carbon overnight before bringing the fuge back online. No negative effects on my display but I'm still seeing a few...
Thanks Bob, I didn't realize how quickly FWE worked. Since the fuge is sperate from the rest of the system it would be easy to take it off line and treat it. Ill just do a large water change and run carbon on then fuge before I bring it back online. I didn't find a melanarus wrasse this...
I've been contemplating a flame or rainbow BTA and after seeing a gorgeous flame today I'm finding it harder to resist. My main concern is that I'd like my tank to be primarily sps and a wandering anemone might not mix well. I've spoken to one or two people that share the same hesitation...
Thanks guys. Right now I'm only seeing them in my fuge. Not to say that there aren't any in my display. I'm going to try find a melanarus wrasse this weekend. In the meantime ill try to siphon some of them out.
