The first thing I would do if I were you is get rid of the hydrometer and get a refractometer along with 35ppt calibration solution (do not use ro water to calibrate it no mater what the directions say!). If you plan to keep corals this will be a necessity, hydrometers are not reliable enough to...
I couldn't say for sure, as i don't have any macro's. I didn't have hair algae at the time of dosing, but i do have some now with the die off, so i imagine it will not work for that, or cyano as well as you can tell from the pics.
Comparison, day 1 and day 7. Please note, i did not touch the tank at this time, no dying algae was pulled out, no scrubbing done, my hands only went into the tank to adjust some coral.
To start off, this method is new, there is only a handful of people i know right now that have tried it, so any long term side effects are not known right now. I can say i have noticed none of my tank inhabitants being irritated by this, corals, fish, inverts. The earliest i know of someone...
Before I put this in the share and learn as an effective method, i'd like some opinions on if i should wait for more trials to confirm or if we can consider this effective and safe. I have sps, lps, snails, hermits, crabs, anemone's, scallop, and urchins, probably some other stuff i'm missing...
Thats a picture of the back of the unit actually, and thats the exit pipe. it's face up inside the skimmer, so the water builds up to that point and then overflows into it. the exit goes straight down into the tank and has a cover on it. the intake is on the left, you can't make it out well in...
Mine worked out to something like 20mg per gallon, i have roughly 140-150 total gallons, i dosed 3000mg. cost me 15 bucks. The measurement i went by and got a rough estimate on the dosage was 150mg per 30 liters of water. Also, nutrients are not a problem in my tank, save for phosphates...
Even if i had to retreat every few months, this treatment is a cakewalk, another guy treated his tank last november, still no sign of bryopsis in his tank.
