You can do much better, the lower the micron the better, .25 is awesome, .5 great, 1 micron usable, at 5 micron you can sometimes see with the human eye. The job of the sediment and the carbon is to protect the more expensive membrane, the sediment well takes of sediment and the carbon removes...
Very well could be, I bet if you pulled the coating back it would all be rust. People that say rusty magnets are like gfo are very wrong. Gfo is iron, magnets are a mixture of metals that do impact tanks.
Turns out from this issue I was topping off water with .15 phosphates... Gfo is exhausting in a single day and my level isn't coming down much. Things like this make you question staying in the hobby. Lost a bunch of sps after I long run of the tank looking great.
You can make a copy very cheap out of a vodka vinegar mix as Paul stated. But yes you can just stop but your phosphates and nitrates will increase again. Do research on carbon dosing, the only purpose it to lower nitrate and phosphate, it is not anything magic to increase color.
Thanks, using di water from the store right now, zero tds. The stuff should be here soon. The kicker is I replaced all filters except the membrane a few weeks ago and was zero. This killed a brand new di canister.
So I have been having a major cyano issue recently and could not figure it out, all levels are in line and nothing has changed. I did not check my RODI tds because I changed all filters recently except the membrane. Well I decided to check my TDS and it was over 50! It turns out after...
Bought it from mini reef a few weeks back for 65$ and he is super healthy and eats everything out of your hand literally. Was in a qt tank and was treated with prazipro. The reason I am selling is because I like my small fish to much and don't trust him. I am in cherry hill.
For 700-800$ if everything works and the front glass is not scratched bad I would say yes. Check that front glass good with the halides on. Scratches are easy to hide in the dark.
With all the variables meaning you don't know what is hiding I am for 50% of new retail. I would go 1500 on this if in good shape maybe slightly more. .
