So I took the fixture apart and cleaned out the dust. Checked connections The ballast itself had some black on the outside. Regardless I put the bulb in and it fired up with no issues. Put it all back together and put it on aquarium. Went back to same behavior as before. Could...
Can anyone enlighten me as to common symptoms of a bad ballast? Thought I had a bad bulb. Replaced bulb and lamp lit for first day. Then sporadically fired day 2. Now mostly flickering. Could it also be too much power drain on same circuit? Thinking about replacing ballast.

Well they will certainly come back if you left two. When I had them. Even if I thought I killed every one...they still eventually showed up again.

IME the key to killing Aiptasia properly is to put the needle close to the mouth but do not touch it. The stingers will start closing around the needle in a stinging/feeding response. This is when you hit the plunger on the needle.

I would strongly recommend Aptasia X. I have had great success with this product without risk of throwing off tank parameters. Personally had a bad experience with pickling lime throwing my tank off.

Curious if anyone has tried performing daily water changes? My thought process is the following: I see keepers that talk about daily testing and dosing calc and alk. I see keepers talking about dosing trace elements...dosing carbon for a ULN system...etc...etc... I guess I am just...

I am sure red bugs are still around, but curious how often reefers are still seeing them surface...

Hobby is not for those with a low frustration level. Went to update firmware on the Apex ...after update completes display goes black...lights turn off...end up taking controller off the stand... Go through update process three more times....and finally everything comes back. So in the end...
So the cube re-start was delayed much loooooonger than expected. Anyway, started the process of cleaning some things up and planning a new design. Current tank is more of a FOWLR than anything resembling a reef tank. Fingers crossed. Rebuild will go ok.
I am with the others. I do not think the crab is the culprit. I would still throw it out...but not the culprit IMHO.
You should add a new entry to the poll...it's the puffer....even though I refuse to believe it because I like him/her too much.
