I would like to try and begin doing my water changes in my sump. My only problem is that when I attempt to do this the water comes out very slow because my bucket is at even height with my sump. Is there some trick that I am missing or is there a better siphon that I can buy? Jon

I think my problem is just as you said. My sump used to have a trickle filter and I took that out and made it into a refugium. The water comes down pretty hard so I got some 1 inch pvc pipe and extended it down towards the bottom of the sump. The water lands on some live rock and this creates...

Today I did the 20 % water change and syphoned out the cyano in the sump and on the live rock. As of now the tank looks great and I will keep you posted when I test the water tomorrow and over the next couple of days to see if the cyano grows back. Jon

I have a Mag 9.5 as my return pump and have been told that it is to large for the tank. But, when I gave it a test shot it works great and turn over more than enough water. I do have a hydor koralia 2. Do you think that I should give it a shot? Jon Jon
