One more thing to think about. Not sure if you use a Mac but Apex is Mac compatible. I dont believe the reefkeeper is. The Vertex looks like it is going to be a nice unit once they get out of the beta phase.

Ive never owned the RK. I have the Apex. I feel the Apex has a much larger following. As Trio said I also hate that you need to buy additional modules to run certain features. I will say the Apex is fairly easy to use.

Apparently after all my reading Preston Driveway Heat is the same exact thing as Kent Turbo Calcium. I bought a small thing of that a few years ago for like $20. I wish I would have known about this.

Well I wouldnt say Im a plumber by any means. You can def tell that a rookie put it together. I took me like 6 hours to swap out. On the plus side zero leaks! :)

Edit: Yes it is quiet I guess. It is quieter than my mag 18. I only have it turned up 2/5 of the way. Its just like the vortech pumps if you turn it up the sound will get considerably louder.

Do you have enough room in that sump to catch all the tank water if the power goes out?

Can you test for nitrate? You might need to get one of those small skimmers
