The rocks in the tank are a few years old from my old setup, I've been carbon dosing since I started the tank, I can dose my nitrates to 10ppm and it will be down to 0 within days. Phosphates are a bit harder, I run the reactor with Gfo.

Using two blues wouldn't hurt, i believe there's a few people on this site who use nothing but blue bulbs, with maybe a purple or actinic thrown in, and do just fine. Extreme corals also only use blue lights, no whites. They are led lights, but pretty much the same thing.
