I guess I got lucky with my Rbta, he stayed right where I put him. I read that if you try and feed him a lot in the area you put him they'll stay there as they know there's a good source, so I fed him once or twice a day for 3 days or so.
I'm looking for some serpent stars at the moment, sand star i'll debate on but want to give it enough room. I've blown my rock off three days in a row now, the amount of junk coming out is a lot. I'm going to grab some socks for the sump so i can use them whenever i do it to catch all the junk...
I gave it a shot today in my ongoing issues with bryopsis to make the tank as clean as i can, i haven't touched the rocks since it was set up 8-10 months ago, the amount of junk that came out was amazing, lol. skimmer went nuts for a bit. Anyone not do it and notice a difference after starting...
I've seen lps drop a baby before, i know softies do it as well just because i see random ones around the tank now. Thats some pretty neat extension on the hammer, lol, i've seen extension like that on a wall hammer.
The only issue i see with them is the DI cartridge is not refillable, and a lot more costly than getting the refill bags from brs. That unit in a 3 stage with an add on canister from brs would work though.
I use the ro buddie as well, cheap, but changing the filters and di is more of a pain. I'm waiting for the black friday sale at brs and getting their base 4 stage this year.
As a side note i have emeralds in my tank with lps. They have not picked on my corals, the only time i've ever seen one pick on coral was an sps and the tank was not getting fed much, but never saw one on my lps.
i'd put money on the peppermint shrimp. I got rid of mine, they like to dig into the mouths of lps and rip out any food, along with their insides as well at times. They will also tear apart feather dusters.
