I know this thread went towards the geo-thermal but figured i would share.
I purchased the 1/4HP JBJ Chiller. The first big thing I had to do was redo my Carbon/GFO reactors and UV because I was going to be replacing those pumps with a Mag12. So this meant a lot of new plumbing. I created a...
For now it stopped. The ones that died, are out and gone. Nothing has been nipping at them nor stinging them. It was a 'pull in, never come out again' moment. Frustrating but so is life with a reef tank.
I have been running miracle mud for the last 18 months. I have to replace part of it or remove it all. Regardless of what I do I am thinking of taking a little bit out at a time. Just want to get people's experiences with doing this. Doing people really find it helpful? have a bunch of...
I change mine about twice a week, as they back up. I run them through the washer, which my wife hates, but life. I have removed them for a time but didn't like the micro-bubbles in my display tank that resulted. Wish there was a better solution but i haven't heard of one.
I have turned off ALK dosing completely. I have to test again today. I do water changes once a week about 25 gallons so 14% a week. Have been doing that for almost a year.
Water is from RODI unit, TDS is zero. Salt is Red Sea Coral Pro, has been since the tank started. Phos is .01, Mag I have to test. No dosing since my levels tested that high (usually ALk and Cal). I gave up on those two pieces can't risk it if it is something that spreads, there were pretty...
Temperature has not been higher than 79.5, but is typically between 78 and 79. I run carbon in my tank already so not sure. I am really just stabbing here in the dark. I don't want to lose more corals. The wells is going in a bucket tonight along with the hammer. Hopefully it won't spread...
Anyone use the Interceptor method for treating stuff like this. Trying to come up with something. I have definitely lost 1 hammer, half a Wells is gone, and my peach hammer looks horrible. Just wanted to get some feedback. This Wells was only showing 1/8th of its skeleton this morning.
Tank is online for 20 months and went through a complete cycle. Those levels are something i have seen go from zero to those levels are random times. Doesn't last too long.
My green hammer pulled in about 2 weeks ago and has completely died off. Wouldn't bother me except what ever is wrong seems to be spreading to my wells, peach hammer, and Acan. I have a few frogspawns and some SPS that seem to be unaffected, as well as a carpet anemone.
I feed one or two...
I would also say make sure you use unions and valves on the drains. This way you can easily work on things and tune it right. My 180 has two drains, one is open 100% the other about 75%. That has been the best balance for returning/draining water in my system. When i turn everything off the...
I had the exact same thing on my Trigger Systems Bursa skimmer. I had to actually thread a screw into the air inlet to solve it. Annoying but very educational problem.
I have to ask, Why an Elos tank? With all the other choices out there I just feel that the costs for the Elos system are too high and that buying a tank from someone else would be a much better financial decision.
That is definitely the thing to optimize these types of lights. To close you don't get the right spread of light to far away impacts their strength. I have heard the best is between 8-15 inches but i could be wrong. I have used miter rails for my hanging system, works perfectly, but i know...
I have a 180 that is 6' long and have 4 SolBlues over it. Some folks have said the spread on the Vega is even better so you might be fine. Look forward to seeing the pics.
