When I ran my gen 1's I kept them at 75%. When I upgraded I started my pro's at 50% and cooked everything. I keep them now at 35% and everything is happy.

also the longer the salt sits in the mixing bucket adds to the amount of crud. If i make the saltwater on a Friday night and then do the water change Saturday AM then it is very minimal, but if i forget to use it friday or I am just too lazy and get to it sunday then the precipitate is much worse.

I coated it in redgard

I suggested homosote. When I just picked up my new tank the tank builders are the ones who said that they only use homosote under all of their tanks. I coated mine in redgard to make sure it was waterproof.
