How long has the tank been set up and how have the water parameter been? Where does your calcium and magnesion stand? If doing simple weekly/bi-weekly water changes allows those levels to stay where there at then Id say you dont "have" to dose just yet. I was told when I first started adding...
How big is the tank and what do you currently have it stocked with? On smaller tanks (10-25G) with LPS and Softies only sometime 25-30% water changes are enough to keep levels in check. So we really need some more info first.
LOL But I dont want those little white ones eating my coralline either. But we'll wait and see how this goes, play it by ear. I'm just excitied because I have something new to look at. They were on some frags I got a few days ago.
Right now the little white starfish are keeping to the rocks and aren't moving close to the corals, but I will keep an eye on them. I also noticed that I have 2 Brittle starfish in there as well but they never come out of the holes in the rock. Every once in a while you'll see there legs come...
Thanks guys for the replies. The one clown is around an inch and the other, about an inch and 1/4. I bought them from The Hidden Reef for $15 a piece. Thanks for the comments on the rock work. I love the look of the "caves" and love watching the Dottyback and Green Clown Goby swing through them...
I run just a DI system with an in-line TDS meter. Going in it's reading 115 and coming out I get 0. I only run a DI because I can't see spending $125+ on a RO/DI for a 10G Nano. With my current DI I get about 50-55 gallons per filter.
Thank you guys so much for the Xenia and other frags. Everything is looking great and the Xenia took to the spot where I wanted it. I can't wait to come back by and see what other goodies I can pick up. Your tanks are beautiful and it was very nice to meet you both. Thanks again, Joe
I stopped in there about 2 weeks ago. The Petco by me doesn't carry saltwater fish. They seemed to have a few nice ones. Makes me wish I had a longer tank so I could get a few. Are they aggressive?
RedSea Coral Pro is what I started using after first setting up the tank with InstantOcean. I get good calcium and mag levels without having to dose. But then again I have a 10G tank so when I do my 3g water changes it really brings levels back up.
My Green Slimmer SPS is almost starting to touch my HOB filter. Should I consider moving the filter or will it start growing in another direction once it hits it? I only ask because if I move it, it has to be to the far right of the tank and right now that's where my Hydor powerhead is. To the...
The tank has only been running for just over 4 months now. I did notice though that once I took my Chemi-Pure Elite out and added the Purigen the corals then started acting funny. Meaning they would only open every so often. I dont really think it has much to do with that considering it's a new...
The AquaClear 30 is only a powerhead that moves 240GPH. I have a Aqueon HOB filter that's filtering 200GPH. In it I have filter floss, that I change every 4-7 days, but less now with the skimmer. Also have some Purigen in there as well.
My corals weren't looking too happy over the past month or so. All my parameters have been great and I've had no issues with the tank, aside from some slight hair algae. I thought maybe I had too much flow. One Hydor Nano doing 425 plus another Aquaclear 30 that pushes 240GPH so I took the...
I got some of that putty from The Hidden Reef. At first I did nothing because I didn't know any better but then after adding a few corals and seeing the rocks fall over I added the putty, now everything is solid.
