OK, so I'm going to pull the rock tomorrow, bring it to the back deck, submerge it, and see if there's any way to do some surgery and maintain the bulk of it.
If not, I'll just trash it (unless anyone wants a rock full of palys (think they're CJs)).
I need to get this done quick and with the...
Yeah. Plan was gloves and goggles out on the back deck. I like the rock and its the largest, by far, in the tank. Hoping to salvage it.
Was considering a Dremel with a cutter blade to try to remove a surface layer but don't think its possible.
Another option is to just break it up, but its...
So, I got this rock
Big rock I like.
Its nice and bacteria seedy.
I ignored a few green palys on it.
What could a few palys do?
Now I have this...
So.
Plan:
Remove crusties and sticks (they're being moved anyway).
Remove rock.
Kill Palys.
That last step is the rub.
How to kill?
Thought...
So, one of my G3s burned out (I have 2 over a 36" tank) and I sent it to Radion for repair, but its not happening, too old to fix.
They offered me a steep discount on a replacement, so I have an XR15 Blue coming this week (24"x24" spread but claims it can reach to 30").
I have a 30 gallon IM...
Glad you found Mark!
As a serious review...
When I started in the hobby many moons back I worked in Jackson, about 1/2 a mile from Mark's place.
I had done some research on corals, but was never fully sure, sans experience, what would work and what wouldn't.
I had the luck to hook up with Mark...
OK folks, no takers so I'm going to drop this on Nextdoor and FB Market.
It's a shame.
Once the fish are painted and dry they're much easier to see as they don't move much,
Avoid the NJ Reefers site, I hear they're run by a hive of scum and villainy.
Saying that, there are a few exceptions exemplifying extraordinary good looks, intelligence, and wit.... like me.
Free to a good home of a modeller...
I decided to go nuts and upgrade my hobby station. I'm doing away with my enamel model paints.
I have 50+ jars of Testors enamels, spectrum of colors, probably $250 worth, all at least half full, many never opened.
Obviously, if you're going to paint your...
Brewed beer for many years. Started with malt concentrates then got to a point where I was actually buying and sparing my own grains.
Was always curious on distillation, especially with those small oak staves you can add to your distillate to 'quick age'.
I've had my eye on a few copper stills...
Past couple of years I've been getting the same thing, maybe once every 2 weeks or so.
I'm simply holding the outside magnet in place, then unplugging it and plugging it back in.
Seems to clear it for a few weeks.
Still don't know why it does it to begin with.
I dropped one of these in line with my RODI. Easy install and nice to be able to hit a button and see the TDS/ppm in and out of the unit.
Plus it lets you know when its time to start replacing filters...
