Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Never done it, but seems enough people on RC are, and everyone seems pleased. When I was running it normally eg. pushing water out, it would always get clogged after some time. Giving the size of my tank and the size that the frags I'll start with, I probably won't see the benefits for a...
It was so cold today, I really didn't want to go out so I did some more work while the tank is cycling.
I made a stand so the CaRX can sit on top of the pump.
Put up some wire raceways to organize as I put thing up on the wall:
I order some heavy duty screen frame and made a cover...
I currently have a clown (from Hawkeye), a Hawaiian Flame Wrasse, Anthia and a watchman goby (which I haven't seen in days). These will go into the tank as soon as its cycled as I've had these for years so not worried about QT'ing them. I will probably add another goby, some cardinals...
With limited time and no patience left, I gave Ethan a call to help me plumb up the system. What every one wrote is true, he is great and does a great job, his experience and knowledge with installs is worth every penny.
Here are some updates:
Continue to paint the stand skins, I liked...
Correct you can have a mini cycle, I think best if you move them over slowly. When I was stocking my 45, I followed a rule of 1 fish per month. If you move more, then ensure you can test for ammonia and nitrite/nitrate. The bacteria is in the rock not the water.
I have 2 unopened bags of this highly rated sand. I over purchased, so need to move out what I have.
Will sell each bag for $38, which is the price I got them for during one of the past group buys.
Pick up in Summit.
Good discussion. Beauty in the eye of the beholder as they say.
Its funny as I'm a diver, not as active as I use to be, but when I see a tank with shadows and shimmer it takes me back to some of the best dives I've done. The coral reefs are not lit with infinite light w/o shadows and...
On the long debate thread on RC someone said it best, there have been Tanks of the month on MH and on LEDs. There is no question you can have a great tank on both. Pick the one you think best for your situation and run with it.
IMHO, If you feel MH are best great, but I don't think you...
Not looking to start a debate on QT, but my opinion is why take the chance for 2 weeks longer? After reading the website (which sounds great and I'll probably purchase from them), it doesn't seem as they have a dedicated water column for each tank. I don't know how diseases transfer but to me...
I think the minimum recommendation on QT is 4 weeks. Anything shorter you might not catch anything in the incubation period (I think that is what it's called).
Where there is a drill there is a way.
sorry for the pun, but you can alway go straight down and build a soffit. While not the most attractive, it shouldn't be that large and if you paint it the same color of the wall's and ceiling it should blending over time.
I'll give it a try, but I think the original ends were but to get the plugs thru I had to break them up. I have plenty left so will give it a try again. Thanks!
Any recent pics? When you get a chance , I'd like to know your thoughts on the inline heater. I've been using the ehiems as well and those have been solid.
Get the gel filters for pictures of the tank.
Yes, they are not good. I bought 2 and they both failed very quickly. I don't know if your using them for flow or as a pump, but as a pump I swtiched over to the small Sicce and Tunze. They are not as cheap, but so far reliable. Can't really say which one I like better yet.
