Thanks. I'm don't think I'm too worried about leaking as once plumbed and everything is running, I don't see many people saying that the bulk head or pump suddenly starts to leak. The thing I was thinking is it's really one less thing to clean. When I took apart my 45 cube the pump was...
I'm thinking/planning the build again and I have a return pump which can be run internal or external. Excluding heat and potential leaks what other factors/opinions for a external verses internal pump. I was leaning internal and now thinking external....
Thanks!
I use to dose and switched over to a Calc reactor as I sometimes travel a lot for work. Although, I was able to set up a gallon at a time on a doser, I would always forget to refill it before a trip. Calc if done with the proper set up and controllers to monitor pH levels is more of a set and...
Save yourself the headache and make sure you get the following regulator regardless of the reactor:

If you do a 10 min search on it, it's hands down the best and problem free regulator used. There are a few threads...
Water is not static or serial in nature, so it will turn over just due to the fact it will mix. Same concept as a skimmer, not all your return water is going through the skimmer, but over time all parts will get skimmed.
I'm not really following your description, but I would have all the Water from the DT Gravity feed to the other items, an then a return from the sump to the DT. The other option maybe feed all the other items with a separate pump gravity feed back to the sump.
This sounds great and a massive build. Don't worry about the Apex, there is a lot of support. I think people try to tackle the fun stuff such as lighting profiles first, before understanding the basics. Do the simple things, pumps, heaters, float switches and when comfortable with that go...
Now just have to wait till someone here can build a tank with it part of the ceiling, while the picture shows the relative size, it's really hard to believe how big these tanks are. The family is already saying they want to go back. Next time, will do the behind the scenes tour and the dive...
I posted this in another thread on skimmers but here is the one that I'll be running:
It's a 30" LifeReef which I will probably be running the Mag12 paired with it as a internal. The build quality is very good. I can't wait till get this wet.
One step at a time
So having to deal with my town for building permits set my tank upgrade back 3 months now. But we finally broke ground this week. Given I was suppose to be in final stages for the house, I had to schedule Coast to Coast to deliver my tank, so I'm getting it next week. I...
A must see!
So back from the long weekend trip to Atlanta. We had a great time. I've been to a lot of aquariums (Camden, NY, Monterey Bay, Epcot-I dived in that tank, London, Hong Kong) and this one is incredible. The size of the tanks and the ability to see whale sharks, manta rays and...
Welcome. There are a lot of people spread out all of NJ so I'm sure someone is close. A lot can be done via posting pictures. The folks on this forums have a wealth of experience and I do believe in the "been there, done that" for almost anything reefing. Start a build thread and post...
I'm heading to the Georgia Aquarium for the long weekend with the family. I have 2 young girls and looking to see if anyone has any good tips, what not to miss, local food recommendations (will be staying at the Sheraton near by). I have already set up the Dolphin encounter and sea otter...
Not that difficult as long as the glass isn't tempered. Knowing where you are located will help. There are a lot of people who like drilling tanks here :)
