Sure enough after spending all the time and money for a reef tank, the oldest daughter wants a Betta Fish!! So some quick research I learned that RO water is not recommended and treated Tap water is. Would anyone know the reason behind that?
I couldn't find any specifics in a quick search...
Wow, 200 gallons a week! It takes me months to go through 200 gallons with my 45 cube! But then again I do dream of getting a big tank one day. First, I'd have to get a large house or wait till the kids go to college, but by that time I probably wont be able to afford to pay for a tank and...
Here is what I do now.
I went to the local Chinese resturant and asked them to buy 10 large and 10 small soup containers. I premeasure by weight 10 gallon of the salt and Mag and just have that on hand. I measure out the liquid as needed as I find that very simple and takes no time at all to...
+1 on mono price. Really no need to spend extra money on cables, it's all marketing. In the analog days, one could argue that there was a difference, but things are mostly digital these days. 1's and 0's. I would bet a ORA frag that a person cannot tell the different between a $8 monoprice...
Yes it is a ORA branching Monti, I got it from Dr. Jim.
Here is the ORA description: Green Digitata is a branching neon green Montipora that develops vivid white growth tips. This coral is fast growing and extremely hardy as well as tolerant of a wide range of lighting conditions. The ORA Green...
Thanks for the tips on the blueberry. It was given to me when I bought the red gorgonia. I've been feeding it phyto and I feed oyster fest as well.
I hope I can keep it alive as it is a beautiful piece.
I haven't posted my build pictures since the web site was lost, but I've been slowly recovering from my tank crash as well (they both happened at the same time).
Here are some shots of some of the corals which are currently in:
One day when I have time, I'll repost all the build...
One thing I read is that in a low nutrition environment, your alk needs to be much lower then what is considered normal. Zeo tanks run very low alk. I also read that you end up feeding more to put more for the coral to feed on, ie more fish poop.
Does anyone shoot sporting clay? I use to shoot a lot, but my shooting partners stop due to family and moving on to other hobbies.
I would love to get back into the sport, anyone interest in shooting a round?
Good luck with the build. I use the vineger.
I always find this funny, b/c there are so many new reefers on other forums who can't wait to get coraline in the tank, yet we all want to clean it off. Heck, they even sell stuff to help get it!!
Here is the thread to a prior post:

There is a link which has how a GFCI works and why it trips.
This is very common with lights and gfci's. I had the same issue along with many other people. It's the way gfci are designed to work and the way the power is drawn thru. The differential is enough to trip the gfci.
Not saying you don't have an issue, but this is very common. It's also not a...
I had a growth spurt and I had to frag a bunch. I have about 6 frags, some with a few heads, some with upwards of a dozen.
Chain Gang rules apply, but first come gets the first pick of the bunch.
Pick up's will be a pain as I work in the city and don't get home till 7:30pm, but can be as late...
Only bring the cash you want to spend and leave the credit cards at home. :) Swaps are great as great deals are to be found and one is like a kid in a candy store. The 2 that I have been to, I circle the vendors a few times, create a mental list on the must haves and then fill the rest in...
If things don't work out with Salty28, I'l like to be considered. I have the Clown from Hawkeye which also need a good home. 14 years running beats my 10 months :)
