Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Were there extras made with no names? If so I would be happy to PayPal $20 for one for shipping and a little extra to help make up the difference. Let me know.
I use the Aqualifter with Kalk mixed in with my RODI reservoir. I have it on a timer (something like 1 min on every 45 min on my old reef keeper 2 controller). I adjust it up or down every couple of days depending on my evaporation rate. I really need to put a float switch in and just set the...
Coincidentally I happened to stop by a shop in Manhattan today and there was a young guy fragging zoas in the middle of the store. He wasn't wearing gloves or glasses or anything. I asked if he was concerned and his response was he's never had a problem and didn't know that it could be bad...
kschweer,
I saw your beautiful frags you just posted for sale (and you tank looks great with a lot of zoas in pictures), so I figured you would be a great person to answer. Quick question. Do you only wear the gloves when cutting, or anytime your hands are in the tank?
Reviving this thread. Only have a few zoas/palys. Took a small rock out with some palys on it. They began to squirt liquid out (above my tank, so it went into the tank and non on me). Each one 1 or 2 times. I VAGUELY knew there was some risk but never paid much attention. Afterwards...
Read through some temp threads recently also and decided it was ok to go a little higher. My heaters are set to 77. During the summer it ranges between 78-80. Start a fan at around 79.5 (Until last week, I started it at 78.5)
Elos AquaStudio (closest to me)
Aquatic Obsessions (Not so much in the last few years as it is much further away, but in the past I used to make it down there some)
Petco (East Hanover is the closest and very hit or miss, but the Bridgewater is better as the previous poster said)
Ely's (in...
You can just put the output hose into the filter sock. I run a tee just like you are planning and output the hose right next to my filter sock. I don't feel the need to put it in the sock but I could. The water coming out has already been filtered. As long as the carbon is not being beat...
Couldn't have said it better myself.
That is exactly what I would recommend if someone is serious (and without unlimited capital for investment). That is what I had come up with after a lot of research on the subject. I just didn't have the time to spell it out the way George did. Thanks...
Ahhhh, the elusive dream. I'd be willing to bet most serious reefers have thought about opening a store at one point or another. Who wouldn't want to earn a living doing what they love?
While clearly it is possible (There are several examples here in NJ alone), it is extremely difficult. I...
I wish I had taken a picture for the famous "Before" look, but I just wasn't thinking.
But even now, there is still a lot of algae.
2 quick examples:
1 In a cave I can't really get too.

This one is on my top rock. You can see a large piece caught on an acro, and then a lot in the...
Thanks Guys
It really was an hour or two (5 or 6 nights a week) for almost 8 weeks straight. A ton of manual removal of long hair algae, then the shorter and shorter pieces. Cleaning / Fixing equipment. But, yes, the work is paying off and it is looking better. Now I just need to get some...
Let's try this again. Most of you don't know me as I was never super active on the site. I did put up a tale of the tank thread in 2011 when I first upgraded to my 90 gallon (from a 29g), and was keeping up pretty good, but that is when the site crashed and I lost all of my thread. After that...
I had bryopsis throughout my entire 90 gallon display. So frustrating. Followed someones detailed instructions on the net using tech m. It was gone in about a week and no ill effects on anything else in the tank. Has been stayed gone for 5 years now. Anecdotal, but it worked great for me...
