Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I'm not sure. I've never seen a bundoon with that much yellow. The one's I had were more green and black. It's not a canary either.
All I can say is good luck with it. We had 2 bundoons and 2 canaries and none of them lasted in either of our systems for more than a month.
We have about 5 sets we rotate through. We probably should change them more frequently because water starts flowing out of tops of them instead of through them pretty quickly (like in a matter of a week maybe). Since we're using them predominately for bubble traps, it's OK with us.
The way we...
Not to discourage you but Phyl has owned a software development business here in NJ for the past 14 years. When she first thought about starting it up, every business owner we knew told her that she shouldn't do it. At the time we blew it off thinking that they were just jaded and that she had a...
Ooops. Looks like I'm emptying out the first chamber sooner than I thought! Although, it is working fine right now (I think), so maybe I'll just leave it alone.
That sort of sounds like the eunicid we pulled from our tank. The thing was lightning fast and did just what you described. It would extend its head out, with small feelers coming out of the end and then zip back in. We thought it was relatively harmless until the day we came home and found it...
1) the first chamber (the one with the mixing pump) gets the sulfur and ARM/Dolomite at about a 25%/75% ratio of Sulfur to Calcium mix (Carlo - what is Matrix - is this instead of calcium??)
Matrix is a type of carbon. The first chamber is a mix of the matrix carbon and sulfur beads.
2) do you...
Hard to tell. Is it "smooth" with a white ring around it about 1/4" back from the head? If so, it could be a eunicid(sp) worm. Like I said, though, it's hard to tell from the pic.
Hey Chris, welcome to NJRC! I'm not really sure about the answer to your question but wanted to welcome you to our side of reef! Thanks for stopping by and I hope someone here is able to give you some useful information.
Re: Here's my 120
I'll be interested in hearing the results of your tests. I'm just stitting here wondering which option would be best. I don't think you'd want two pumps Teeing into one return line to the manifold. You could try to have the two pumps return to the manifold independently so...
We have them in just about every setting in our tank. They're in low flow/low light, high flow/high light, low flow/high light and high flow/low light and they're all doing equally well. It seems like once they settle in to a spot, they thrive.
Re: Here's my 120
Looks like a good plan Bax. One thing I don't see (and you may not necessarily need) is a port used to divert excess flow back to the sump. By the looks of it, you have those 2 pumps feeding a lot of systems so it may not be an issue. You do have an used port so you could...
Yeah Chris, I'm using the same setup Carlo described. The only thing that's different is that I am using a dolomite/crushed coral mix in chamber 2. It works really well.
Here is a pic of the setup:
Re: NJRC Clownfish Squishy Thing
Don't be sad, we have an extra one you can have. Just remind me before the next meeting you're coming to and I'll be sure to bring it.
