Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Nice! That was a really cool video. It looks like you've got it dialed in really well.
Congrats on getting a great skimmer. I'm sure you'll be happy with it.
Looks good, Ron. I like the aquascaping. You've got a lot of nice shelves and nooks & crannies to load up with corals. The pics came out really well, too.
Congrats on finally getting your system leak free. My suggestion for while you're waiting is to do some research and read and then so some research and read and then some research and read some more. . . . Lots of patience and research right now will save you a lot of problems in the future...
The one natural predator I know of is the six line wrasse. Others I've heard that work are scooter blenny's, mandarin's and similar type fish. Another thing you can do to help keep them in check (and give the predator a chance to wipe them out) is to get a piece of 1/4" PE tube and siphon them...
Sorry to say, they're not good. The biggest problem with them is that they reproduce rapidly and can wind up smothering things to death. Also, once you get them, they are really tough to get rid of. If they do turn out to be flatworms, do some searches on this site. You'll find some good...
Any chance of posting some pics? Based on the colors you describe, they could be flatworms but the "snail like" looking thing throws that out. It's kind of hard to ID based on the description alone.
I'm sure it is Dom. We bought the smallest quantity PA sells and only used about half.
Good luck with it. We've been at 0 nitrates since we set ours up. It's definitely worth the money and effort, IMO.
Glad to hear you're leak-free, now you can start having some fun!
By the sounds of it, you could probably use another 100w heater. I've heard that a good rule of thumb is 5 times your volume in watts. You're just under 40g, so around 200w would be about right. I'd split it between 2 smaller...
I'm not quite sure what type of bulkhead kit you got or how you're using it. If you got the slip fitting type and you're talking about the piece of PVC that slides inside of the bulkhead, then yes, definitely use PVC solvent and cement to glue it in. Really, you should almost always use solvent...
I'm not sure what happened to them. They were always out and about and eating fine. It was one of those things where every so often you'd go "Hey! Where is that bundoon? I don't think I've seen him in a while." After about a days worth of searching you'd just accept the fact that it was gone...
