New to NJRC - Tank Pics Included

Very nice. It looks really clean and I like the rock work.

    MR-2R

I'll bet you see an improvement in the bubbles after it runs for a while. I was really freaked out at first and kept monkeying with the settings. When I finally gave up and just let it wet skim back into the sump it decided to work itself out.

Tying into the Basement - Pic Intensive

Thanks for the feedback!  Just to document the process further, here are the drawings I came up with before I started: Under the cabinet Basement Then As I continued to add on to the system I would come back to this drawing and use it to plan whatever it was I was trying to do.  Here is...

    MR-2R

What I do is close the air valves entirely and then use the gate valve to set the operating level in the riser. I think for the MR-2R they suggest something like 2 to 4 inches. Once I get that established I open up the air all the way and then back them off 1.5 turns each. I let that run for a...

Tying into the Basement - Pic Intensive

I know it looks crazy but it's not really as complicated as it looks once you know where everything goes. I'm not really good at organizing my electrical wires, which adds to the overall look of confusion. To answer the question of would I streamline anything, I don't think so. When I first...

Does anyone have their sump in the basement?

Here is a link to a thread I just started.  It's really pic intensive which is why I didn't just put it here. http://www.njreefers.org/forums/index.php/topic,1926.0.html We are using a Sequence 5800 for the whole system.

Tying into the Basement - Pic Intensive

I dug up a bunch of pics of our journey of tying into the basement. The process started Thanksgiving weekend, 2005. I began by drawing out a detailed version of my plan. I created a shopping list from the plan and separated all of the parts out into buckets based on where they'ed be used. I did...

    My newest tank

No kidding! It's pretty wild how much water those things move! I was definitely caught off-guard by it. Good luck.

    Looking for a powder brown

Welcome to NJRC! I've heard a lot of good things about your store and am looking forward to visiting you soon. You wouldn't happen to have any White Face/Powder Browns (Acanthurus japonicus) by any chance would you? If so I'll be there a lot sooner! Thanks.

Looking good Matt. I like the new addition.

    Reefer in Training

That's a great pic, Mike! I wish our kids were interested in our tank.  We go to the mall and they spend 10 minutes staring a stupid moving picture of reef fish but have zero interest in the REAL ONES in their living room!   Go figure. . . . .

    new lights

I agree with Mike, you'll need to mount it to the inside of a canopy.  It's hard to see what all comes with it.  It does say that you may need additional mounting hardware which means to me that you WILL need additional mounting hardware!

    Say what you want...

Keep us in mind if he offers again this summer! My take on the weather is that this is OK, but I'm one of those crazy people who like it cold.  I'd take a month of 30 degree days over one 90 degree day.  It must be all of the insulation I carry around on me!

Totally off topic, Beware of the Bees

That's great, hat's off to them! I'm allergic to bee stings so any mass decimation of the SOB’s is good by me! The commentary is really funny, too.

Ozone or not to Ozone ?

Wow! Thanks for the info Jeff. That's some nice "light" reading. I had to take a break when my eye started twitching! I'll have to take my time and sort through it all at home.
