I just ordered a Nanostream 6040, awaiting its arrival while trying to talk myself out of purchasing this :) .
Lemme see how the Nanostream goes, and if (when) I decide to give in, and if its still up, i'll drop you a PM.
Tank looks good! Those 40Bs are, i think, a fantastic aquascaping tank. And an overkill skimmer is an efficient one. Really like the fact that your shop has a 'construction table' and you can photo in the scape to your tank. Those Hydra lights are nice, running a set of the 26HDs on my 25g.
Also agreed. Note in my original post I mentioned how John is a great guy and very helpful.
ACC hosted an NJRC meet, in shop, 2 years previous that was phenomenal. Its still talked about at meets.
ACC hosted a second party last year and sponsored gifts at this year's summer party.
Personally...
Yep. I used to use Mags then after trying Syncs I haven't looked back. The sound of the overflow is 3 times the volume of the pump.
One of the big comments I get on my tanks from other reefers is how quiet they are.
Thanks much!
Filled it and dropped a lot of biomedia in from other tank as well as some Special Bend.
Got the first diatome breakout already, 6 days in, its cycling a bit quicker than expected.
Reef tanks only need patients if they have surgeonfish. :)
But agreed. When I started it was all about machines and testing. Now its about; are my lights set well (aka 'lets try this for a few days'), did I do a small water change (every week or two), is my flow still optimal (finger in front...
In the nano systems with a 10% a week (a 5g bucket covers both my 20s and my 10) I haven't bothered checking anything in over a year.
All is well. And I do miss the odd week every so often.
If I see something off with the corals (some acting out of sorts or staying closed for extended periods)...
I do 10% once a week. I’ve gone for much longer but, during those times, tend to lose growth and even have some corals (softies) receed.
Since getting back in the habit of 1x per week, just to keep alk and nutrients boosted, i’ve seen a considerable rebound in coral color and growth.
Hey Paul,
You're doooooooooommmmmeeed.
But you already know that.
I dropped from a 85g and a 90g to the nanos. I'm doing a number of IM nano tanks at the moment (10, 20, and 25). Each has a simple ATO, 2x50w heaters, upgraded media baskets, and the one with SPS has an upgraded pump, thats it...
