I never had any issue with the red peg and the powerhead. Mine never came out. If it's loose, I suppose cement or superglue might hold it. The pivot end is in the magnet, that's the end I wouldn't cement.

Sounds odd that the ammonia would drop without any increase in either NO2 or NO3. From my experience the Ammonia drops and the NO2 starts to rise. If the NO2 is still 0, sounds like you're still waiting for the ammonia bacteria to build up. It sounds like you're doing everything right, just...

I think more information might be needed to determine where you're at in your cycle. Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate levels. My initial tank took maybe 6 - 8 weeks to fully cycle. Never seemed like it was ever going to complete.

Yeah, definitely a crazy size. Way too tall and slim to do much with. A little fatter and less tall would make it a perfect size, IMO.
