You got this man, I actually just drilled my 40 breeder today after seeing how much I missed having a sump and it was my first time too. Just keep it slow and don't apply pressure. It may take a while but it won't break doing it this way.I did 2 holes

Did you see any signs of ich? Could have been a strain that takes a bit longer to kick in. Stray voltage maybe from something would be another guess if you don't see signs of ich?

Reefco usually has some nice clean up crew options on hand , Haven't been there in a while because of the virus crap though
