When I had cyano it took me a while to get rid of it but it was a combination of reducing nitrates / phosphates by less feeding and introduction of a refugium. Also water changes...... lots of water changes lol. Good luck!
Believe it or not my first coral was a hammer coral and while I've definitely killed tons of corals the hammer has managed to survive through it all. So just by my experience I'd say they are a good starter/ hardier coral, just be careful where you place them because they can sting other...

So I'm setting up a frag tank at the moment to keep be busy during all of this and I was trying to save some money by not using an overflow box and just drilling the drain into the back of the tank and using a bulkhead strainer. Does anyone see any issues with this or has anyone done this...
